I want to make a place called "The Web Authoring Zone" and I wanted the domain to be: www.thewaz.com, but that was already taken.

I have 2 options,

1. Buy the domain www.thewaz.net.
2. Rename the site to "Kevin's Web Authoring Zone" and buy the domain www.kevinswaz.com.

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!

I will, but my dad said He'll think about it when I asked him if I could buy it. It will be www.thewaz.net, hosted by Breezeland (http://www.breezeland.com) They're FREE and they have excellent plans (at least I think so). If I am allowed to buy the domain, I will register it for 2 years at a cost of: $35.50. This would only be $17.50 for 2 years, but I want to keep my information such as: Name, Address, Phone, and E-Mail Address PRIVATE!!! (it's an extra $9.00 a year)

I can vouch for GoDaddy.com. They are a first class org dispite their somewhat "non-professional" name. I have used them many times.

This is the thing I don't understand about GoDaddy.com.

Is is the fact that they are so cheap that they will automatically send your personal info to 3rd party people... and that makes you pay an additional $9 a year?

Or is that true with any domain registrar, that they will give your personal info away, even if they don't say so?

You pay the additional $9 a year to have a proxy name listed in the WhoIs record at GoDaddy. This prevents someone from finding out who is the registrant of the domain by looking at the Who Is record. This is all explained by GoDaddy complete with examples. If you are interested in using the feature, at least learn what you are buying.
