I changed my 'index.htm' page, four days ago, and I still
get the old page. When will it ever be updated? How exactly does caching work? Does everyone across the country get the old page also? Do I just wait, or can I do something about it?

Have you used refresh on your browser?

If normally refreshing doesnt work, try holding down your Ctrl button while hitting Refresh, this will reload everything from scratch.

The problem I had could not be solved by hitting the refresh button, and it wasn't soemthing to do with caching. Here's what my brother said

Ok I logged in to the FTP and found your problem. FTP access takes you in the root folder call /yoymhz but this is not the folder that the web server serves pages from. You have to upload all your files to a subfolder called /mainwebsite_html which is where the web server looks for files. So when you ftp to the server you need to do a change directory to “/mainwebsite_html” or set it as your starting directory in WS_FTP. I moved all your files from the root folder to the /mainwebsite_html folder and now everything works.

Your flash animations look good.

Do you understand what your brother did for you?

Here is an analogy. You told someone to go to your computer and print a WinWord file called "TheDocument.doc". You loaded this file in C:\TheDocument.doc, your friend assumed it was in MyDocuments and so went looking in C:\MyDocuments\TheDocument.doc. They didn't find the right version of the document (or no document at all) because you had uploaded the document to a different location from where you were looking.

When you signed up with a web hosting service, they probably sent you an email telling you exactly where to FTP your files. This is the location your web pages will be loaded from when someone enters your URL.

You brother also gives another good piece of advice. Use WsFTP and set the the local default directory (left pane) to the location on your local machine where you maintain your web files and set the host default to the directory where they should be correctly loaded. Once you have browsed to the correct directories on both machines, click on "Options" and then "Save Current Directories As Connection Directories"
