Tabbing and opening file

Couple of quick questions

Why is the first tab in an actual tab, then the 2nd tab is 3 spaces?

ie, if you turn on the "Show all hidden characters" option you see

-->if.x=1.then
-->...Response.write "test"

Rather annoying when writing control statements.

Also, how do i setup windows to get 1st page 2000 to open my web files by default?

Changing the default file type, i can get 1p2k to open, but it starts at a new document, instead of the document i was trying to edit.

Any help appreciated

All I can say is my tabs seem to work fine. Maybe the template you are using is causing it?

It does it for me too and it is really annoying. I've taken to copying a tab and pasting as required.

When you press the tab key, it appears to fill in as many tabs and spaces as required to line up with the line above. If you are already indented from the line above, I can't figure out what it does.

EvrSoft, you have a very-nearly brilliant package. If you want to include "smart tabs", please give us a way to turn them off so that pressing the tab key just enters a tab. I think that should be the default.

Incidentally, I'm a Cold Fusion programmer and I was amazed at how similar the two look, at least when 1stPage is in Expert mode. I like it.
