Well everybody i tried out the sister program and to me it seems that they tried to over do it. They could get rid of alot of things and make that program a heck of alot better but they're tryin to beat 1P2K.

well i just noticed that it didnt accept my whole post. what i was going to say is that i looked at the code for the 2 programs by debugging them and they both have pretty much the same code except that html builder has added some features but other then that and the colors its all the same. my oppinion on all this is that evrsoft has died and has now moved over to code builders because the updates that evrsoft said they were going to put in 1P2K are all in html builder. i dont like html builder all that much its just got to many pop up windows and it has adverts:( well im done.

peace out,
bret

After quite some years of 1stP, I tried HB.
The big stepover. However, system resources dropped dramatically; HB won't allow me to open Dev-PHP ánd ColliePerl as well. Low on memory.
I used to open 1stP, Dev-PHP and sometimes even Collie and switch from one to another.
I would pay for some software which would understand PHPtags and run php.exe and have all the 1stP features (HTML4) and understand CCS2.
It seems 2ndP will never come ...
Anybody any suggestion?

I will continue using 1st page. For one cool reason. Because I like it. I don't need to justify the total of it.

Just realize that alot of other programs are built similar to the Evrsoft product. But lack a multitude of features. From perl to php to cgi. Some claim to do them others don't stack up to it. HB seemed neat and clean but lacked what I wanted to see. The Evrsoft logo =p.

I would buy anything from Evrsoft if they intend to sell something.

I'll leave with this note to the Dev team. Keep coding... Your doing a great job!

Sure it's great. Yesterday evening I went back to 1stP again just because I can run Dev-PHP ánd ColliePerl ánd 1stP alltogether. I get memoryproblems when I try it with HB.
Upto now I tried Ace and numerous others and always went back to 1stP.
Nevertheless, I would appriciate very much an update, 1.1st page or something ;-) a littlebit more state-of-the-art.
On the other side, Chris is reacting very quickly.
I haven't decided yet but when my memory problems are over and Chris has a hook for php.exe

I agree with assessments re Builder. Responsiveness ~= good programming (It can enhance it, but you have to be able to sling the code first)

I keep coming back to 1st page because it gets the job done for most of my work. It really was/is an exceptional program. I wrote Admin (Napoleon) a while ago asking for a maintainence release with the line-wrap bug fixed, updated scripts (minus the six-buttons from hell), and better xhtml and CSS support. Sadly, no answer.

The program I use some of the time is HTMLkit. It is great for direct editing of site files since the FTP is tightly integrated. It is also under hot development with a lot of people doing coding of plugins. New versions are coming our every few months. (And the price is right, of course, with no ads)

I use First Page 2000 - haven't ever felt the need to waste my time downloading Builder :p.

First Page works, and I'm not really caring about the other.
All I've heard is bc about it.

Well, to be honest ... in the meantime my memoryproblems are (probably, it's Microsoft, you know) solved. As usual, the videodrivers.:D
After years of 1stP, I tried AceHTML, HTMLKit and now HB. Ace and the Kit are OK, but I missed too much things I'm used to through 1stP. :(
Things I recognise in HB.
It's somehow a bad feeling, leaving 1stP, but bad communication can do a lot of harm. So I try to see my love for 1stP as a babyduck syndrome. And I await eagerly the PHP extention of HB I've been typing about on the HB forum.
If only N would stand up and start to communicate what his plans are, if any.

I used Contect for quite some time, liked it, but now with Dev-PHP I can interpret PHPscripts out of my editor and with Collie PerlShell the same with Perl.
I don't mind if software is updated or not as long as it's still usable: i.e. not buggy and somewhat state of the art.
And one can't complain about freeware, can you? You can only switch to other freeware ...
