After editing a Perl script, how do I execute it? I thought that clicking the Preview tab would do it. However, when I look at the output the script generates, it is not updated. If I execute the script in DOS mode, the output is updated.
I'm new to 1st Page, so I may be missing something simple.
Thanks,

It does not get executed. We will see if we can add some more support for Perl in the next version.

Yes, I'd give that a high priority. Otherwise, think what it does to the development cycle if after every 1stPage edit, one has to switch to another window to execute it.

thats normal, dude. anyway, i dont see why they should give perl priority over any other scripting language.
solution: quit being so lazy. just save the file to your web root and run it from a browser. how hard is that?

Well, it is not normal for me. It is not a question of being lazy. Using your logic, we'd all use Notepad. Think smart, bro.

Yes. Evrsoft couldn't cover everything. But hey, how can you complain? It was free!

Gnubie,
Don't knock Notepad, or any other basic text editor. They are the best way to learn, and use, the actual code in your Web pages.
WYSIWYG editors save time and allow you to get things done quickly. However, unless you know the underlying code, you are trapped in another persons vision of what a Web site should look like.
I use FrontPage, NetObjects Fusion, and Easy WebPage, along with several other WYSIWYG editors. However, I still work extensively with text editors so I can make the exact changes that I want.
'Nuff said!! :smoke2:
I usually use 1st page at home or another text editor for the simple reason that i can have about 8 pages open at once as i often make changes to several pages..
At work i use notepad as a) its all i have and b) its has everything i need for the reasons above..
Back to the original question though, am i missing somethign here and being really dumb (not unheard of) as wouldnt you need some form of webserver (IIS, apache etc) to execute and return a Perl script.
