Are there any other tools to create flash graphics but Macromedia Flash?

Yea, SWiSH is nice, but as you said, it's mostly for text effects...

Heh, let's say that I want to try something else, besides Macromedia Flash and SWiSH...
And about phobias, I have a flash-o-phobia lately, because of the flash layers that lot's of Israeli websites are using for ads...
Adobe has something like a flash generated progy' I think?

can you import files you make in swish into flash?
some of the text effects it does are nice but it would be better to have more control over several elements... not just text.
i need to check out "Plasma". i understand you can import wireframes via 3dmax. of course they make 3dmax, but they make the flash stuff look sick!

only thing is... i'm onna dialup connection so refer to the other forum: Flash sucks (http://developers.evrsoft.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9) . haha.
I'm sure you've all researched it. But you know that the Openflash is still in its infancy. So it would be a while before we see some sweet looking Program that will make Macromedia synge the nose hairs off their face with envy. Until then I will still use FLA for my SWF things.

3D Flash Animator

There is a 30-day trial available.
Coffeecup Firestarter
one cool button Tool (the flash version)
There are actually quite a few. A friend of mine use Adobe Premier 6 and After Effects 5.5, then saves the file as a divx compressed avi.
Than uses a program to output the avi to a swf file.
Ill have to ask him what the avi to swf application is called but it is actually quite cool.
He produces some really cool stuff with it! Its a shame he doesnt bother setting a site up an showcasing what he can do.

I use Adobe LiveMotion 2. The interface is user-friendly and it's not hard to pick up on.
Plus, if you work in Photoshop a lot for web stuff, the cross-product integration is wonderful!
It would be cool to see some of his stuff because I have worked in Premiere and After E. but never really made anything for the web with them.
I have emaild him the forums address, it is left with him. We dont live near each other anymore (he moved away to work) so we only keep in touch via email.
I will email him again. I havent seen him for about 12 months, but it was lookig at his stuff that got me interested in flash. Even though he doesnt use it.
I remember him stating that the software he uses to convert .avi to .swf is called V2F Video to Flash Converter. It is available at http://www.crashsoftware.com

This is a quote from Macromedias website http://www.macromedia.com/v1/handlers/index.cfm?ID=23569
Summary
Macromedia has recently become aware of a vulnerability where a hand edited malformed Macromedia Flash movie (SWF) header can be exploited to cause a buffer over-write issue which could potentially lead to execution of arbitrary code.
Issues
This can only occur with Macromedia Flash movies (SWF) that have been hand edited with a binary editor; Macromedia Flash the authoring tool will not output movies with this vulnerability.
Solution
Customers should follow the recommendations found in this bulletin and download the latest Macromedia Flash Player.
I wonder what they mean by "binary editors". Does it mean any other editor than Macromedia Flash?
Is it possible to create these harmful movies by accident? Apparently not.
I get the impression that if user has the latest flash-player, there is no worry.

I have no clue. That just kinda blew over the top of my head and left me with a bald mark.

A binary editor (otherwise known as a hex editor) allows you to edit the bytecode of a file and then resave it. If you have a file viewer like QuickView on your system, display a file and then from the menu chose "view as hexadecimal". You then see the file in hexadecimal format. What the hex editor would allow, is for you to go into some of thw SWF code and script a nasty little no-no that the SW browser plug-in was not build to detect or control.

Apparently you folks don't know about swishmax
Swish max can send and recieve vars like flash
That coupled with tons of new effects with take only minutes
to create in swish that take hours in flash.
Swishmax goes further then Flash MX in game developement
The latest public beta also allows for sync-lock streaming
something that flash has claimed and tried to achieve
but never has actually done.
Swishzone has created a scripting type similar to
actionscript. Swishscript
Which is easier to apply and many actionscripts
can be copied/pasted into swishmax and the results
are the same.
Instead of frame by frame actionscript explorer
swishmax allows one to see and edit all the scripts
for a scene timeline in the same window.
I urge anyone wanting to get into swf design to
check out swishmax
Try the 15 day trial visit the forums test out
the open swi's

There are lots of low cost flash tools which all do a good job.
Amara Software (http://www.amarasoftware.com) - Collection of Flash tools
Flashation (http://www.flashation.com) - Lots of good flashy buttons
Anim-FX (http://www.anim-fx.com) - Banners and Intros
Mix-FX (http://www.mix-fx.com) - Animations and Buttons
But if you want something more and are willing to spend some time on learning Flash you should go for Swish or Flash.
Good luck

I am currently considering Koolmoves (http://www.koolmoves.com/) , it looks promising at first look. Open Laszlo (http://www.openlaszlo.org/) is just now getting to the point of being interesting. Requirements are 512Meg RAM and 1Ghz processor plus, however. Only something you want to check out for rich internet applications, not the animated GIF stuff.
