Some of my friends hate flash, when I say hate, I mean that they really hate it and they don't want to see it ever, so they didn't even install the browser plug-in.
but,
every time they enter a flash-powered website, IE pops a window that suggests to install flash plug-in...
Is there any way to stop this from happening (and not by installing the plug-in)?

Not without disabling installing other things that pop up like that. But if you don't care then in the advanced tab of the internet options, you will see Enable Install on Demand (Other) uncheck the box and it shouldn't appear.

Hmm... it is not the install on demand, install on demand is prompt to install IE components (like Jap charset support when you load Jap website)...

Hmm... maybe...
anyway, it didn't make that pop-up to disappear...
You know its really not the Flash that bothers them. Its the developers that create the Flash product on the web pages that pisses them/me off. Come on who really wants to see a stupid intro. When all they really want is something for themselves/myself.
I like the idea of developing in flash cause nobody can come along and snatch up my 3d art that i've worked on. When it comes to site development its nice to have a good clean fast loading navigational page ready for viewing in less than a click away. pages running ad's aren't the things that keep people coming back and in most cases it really anoys the person browsing the web.
I personally hate the stupid Gator popup screen asking me if I want to install the product on my Open VMS machine.
Where the heck is it gonna put it? LOL~
Auto loading or asking to auto load flash isn't really a problem. But I personally dislike IE even though my site uses IE css styles.
Although it is perfectly possible to make most basic flash mov's to gif format.
I'd say your friends don't have an open mind. If they don't run a browser page with flash everyonce and awhile. Keep an open mind my website isn't fully flash. Two months ago I played with flash and found that I liked it for the above reason I really haven't added anything since. I'm working on a full make over...
