I don't know html and have no time to study it. Can Evsoft 1st Page 2000 be used to convert Word 2000 files into html? If not, does anyone know of such a miracle software or site?

Word can save as HTML, but it isn't very good HTML. If you intend to make a site regardless of how much time you have it is best to learn html.

Have you tried to insert the word document into the web page you are creating?

You can try to save as HTML document your word document and afterwards to use HTML tidy built-in FP to clean the HTML code MS-Word has produced...
Also you can upload your DOC document somewhere and give us the link and someone here will help you with creating an HTML document out of it...

This is not necessarily the best solution to your dilemma, but you might try downloading the MS HTML program for office <http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/Msohtmf2.aspx>
If you follow the directions it should be of some help to you.

Maybe you should go for a WYSIWYG Html editor. Your site won't come out as great as it would if you used HTML, but nevertheless, it would look pretty good.

Oh, WYSIWYG = "What you see is what you get"

Hi! WYSIWYG editors, as the others have told you, is a bad way to create web pages... you'll regret it. But no matter what you use, you're going to have to learn SOMETHING! And HTML is NOT that hard to learn.
I self-taught myself HTML by using this site:
http://www.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/tut/index.html. It's a site called Writing HTML and it was easy tounderstand and really gave me a great start. From there it is a matter of learning the different ways of using the tags and adding XML, SHTML, DHTML and CSS. I have bought TONS of books as references, but I have
found that The Complete Reference to HTML published by McGraw Hill is the best. Also, if you go to www.google.com and type in "HTML tutorials" you will find a wealth of sites. Choose carefully. I can give you a list of good sites if you want them, but try the Writing HTML one first; I like it the best.
Also, the http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp site is fantastic! You can learn ALL you need from there.
One other note: After you have learned the tags and how to use them, you can learn even more simply by studying the way other authors use them. If you see a pge that you like, try clicking on View | Source (or Source Code)on your browser. You can then see the HTML coding for that page (unless the author has locked it, which is unusual). Find the code that applies to what you like about the page and study the way they put it together.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions, let me know, although I am far from an expert. I am a part-time computer instructor so hopefully I can be of some help.
If you have Yahoo Messenger (and you SHOULD! LOL) I am BayAreaRed there. On AIM, I am TerrieInCA, and on ICQ, my number is 8568671. I am usually not online during weekdays as I work. But in the evenings and on weekends, you can usually catch me sooner or later.
Good luck!!!

Why it's bad:
* Too much mostly usefull code.
* Usually (unlike told) the output is invalid HTML.
Why it's good:
* Newbies don't have to mess with the source.
* You see the output immidetly, you don't have to save the source, then switch to the web browser, the click refresh.
Anyway, I taught myself HTML few years ago, in about two and a half hours, HTML (if I dare to call it programming language) is the easiest programming language I ever met (well, I guess mentioning the "Transpert Computer ("A Mahshev A Shakuf")" will be useless because I think that nobody knows about it outside Israel, and even there only small number of people heard about it).

That's the cool thing about 1st Page. You need a minimum of understanding of HTML - which is a good thing to have, even with a WYSIWYG because then you can debug problems - and 1st Page will make it all happen for you with a minimum of fuss.
Even previews it for you without actually loading a browser, but gives you the option to view it in one or more browsers. Which is a good thing for ANY website designer.
