The old Homesite had a nice wysiwig capability (though it lacked some important functions).
The total wysiwyg feature just made a lot of things easy to do, and then later we would tweak the code.
Are there any plans to add full scale wysiwyg editing?
Thanks very much.

A freeware WSIWYG editor that doesnt suck? (thinking Amaya), I dont think it will happen anytime soon.
You would need a crack team of professional coders to make a good program like that, and you would have to pay them a lot of money, which means that the cost goes into the product, which is no longer freeware.
Just speculation though, since none of the 1st Page Developers respond to our posts.

Hah, hah, that thing was an abberation that Allaire was
embarassed to include. Personally, I'm glad they took out the DesignMode as it was buggy and didn't work properly.

Front Page is a perfect example of WYSIWYG developing tool and it sucks, sucks, sucks. The problem with wysiwyg is that someone somewhere has to decide what you might be wanting but it may not be what I want and one of us has to edit to get the desired results. You may use tables and I may use absolutely positioned Divs. With Front Page the after developing editing takes so many hours to clean up that it is not worth the trouble, which is why I use 1st Page.

Yeah I agree Scott.
Also, there seems to be a redundancy in pages made with Front Page and programs of the like. They are limiting
If you're in it for the long haul, I would definintely suggest diving into scripting.

1stPage 2000 is a great HTML editor (I don't still understand why evrsoft offer it for free! but Thanks for it ;). But today, is very productive some WYSIWYG features. I think that a fully WYSIWYG support is not necessary, and probably self-defeating. But would be very useful certain WYSIWYG facilities. For example, the Tag Mode in the Mozilla Composer, which allow view easyly the HTML structure, and edit (with limitations) directly and visually. If 1stPage 2000 join their HTML edit power and easy use to a basic WYSIWYG mode, it would be the PERFECT editor.
1stPage is really a great software, and it can be the backbone of web design proffesional tools, but design a web page today requires a little more.
perhaps in a next version...?
