Which sets of colors (no more than 4) do you suggest to use on a website? I can't decide whether to use white/black/orange/light gray or white/black/light gray/dark gray (seems to be almost the same, but it depends on how you put it, it may be very different)

What's bad about Ozzy or Marilyn Manson? :p
Anyway, when I use orange/light gray/white/black the site might remind a surfer the website of Orange... and this is not what I want to do, like Orange is the best cellular operator here in Israel, but still it sucks...

Well, I'm not making fan websites, maybe in the future, to some DIY Punk/Hardcore groups here in Haifa :D
Okey got you, anyway, do you have any other color suggestions? (Not only grayscale, any four-color set you think will look good)

I think for business oriented sites, stick with the basic black/white/blue/red colors. It just seems more professional. If it is a fun site, go for the exciting colors. I am using a sort of turquoise/black/grey/white theme. It just seems more vibrant to express the individual rather than the business
Try this set:
Blue/Navy=#0C557B
Dk. Grey=#3F4041
Orange=#FF7E28
White=#FFFFFF

Isn't Navy supposed to be #000080 ?
Oops, my bad. Try using an off color blue.. or any blue that suits your eyes. :)

Hi,
I prefer lost of blue and white, blending this with something colourful like orange, or bright red.
Don't use any grey, at this moment everybody seems to be is using it.. :joy:

There is a wonderful little tool called Color Schemer. You can play with the online version here: Color Schemer (http://www.colorschemer.com/online/)
Enjoy! :)

Well, I don't care if my website will look as one of a kind {which will never happen because as soon as you make such website, someone will like the idea and will copy it}, I'm making a website now for a very limited number of people, so I don't need to worry for people to tell their friends to come and take a glance at my site because it's design r0x.
All I need is a set of 3-6 (best will be 4) colors which will perfectly match and won't hurt the eyes of the user.

Studies have shown that the most eye catching colors as a set are:
white
black
red
and possibley grey
if all else fails try using these...it helps!
Hope I helped...

Ya...thats deffinantly a bad use of those colors. But say have a red title, white background, black text...
I don't know, I usually make monocromatic sites myself and simply asign shades to everything (http://jdp.ht.st.)

This will give you a color scheme when you enter a color into it.
Pretty nice to help you find colors that will work together.
If you want to use more then one main color, one of the best things you can do is find a picture of something that generates the feel you want your colors to portray to your visitors.
Say you want calm and peaceful, find a picture of a waterfall, with jungle like foliage around it. The colors would be something like shades of blue and green, flowers on the foliage would be something like yellow or red. Which are generally calm or peaceful colors.
Also pay attention to your physical surroundings and see how colors work together with each other. For example look at billboards or cd covers. After doing this for awhile you will get a grasp on what colors work with each other and which ones dont.
