Very nice! Clean layout, good color scheme. Good job on the CSS for the buttons. And the dogs are beautiful.
Well done. :)

I agree with Joe!
And that's well done for a first site!

You've done a great job on your site, as the others said.
Since you asked for help in areas of improvement, I have a few suggestions.
You might consider saving your map in some file format other than bitmap (BMP). Bitmaps are horribly large, and take up bandwidth. Granted, it is only one file, but it couldn't hurt!
There is also a CSS feature which you can use to streamline your tags (and not keep having to type class="foo", etc.), and that is to declare the tags in context. For example, at the top of your page, all of the <a> tags are buttons, right? Well, you could enclose all of them in a <div>, and then define all <a> tags in that <div> to have the button CSS applied.
Better yet, you already have a <div> there with a class of "clear". Just define all <a> tags in the <div class="clear"> as a button, and then make sure all of the "buttons" are enclosed in the <div class="clear"></div> tags.
It would just make your HTML a little more streamlined.
One other suggestion I would make is to remove all of the CSS from the individual HTML files, and link to one file, that way, if you want to change the appearance of your entire site, you only have to change that external file, rather than each specific location. That's what makes CSS so powerful, after all!
Keep up the good work!

Your website has a good backend look to it and it's very good for a first site. The most important thing for a site is that it has all the information you need and that all the pages are linked to each other, making it easy for the user to find his way around. The next thing to work on is the design part of the site. Just add a few more graphics, some colors and you're set.
Good Job!
Pretty slick for a first timer. =)

Nice site. Nice dogs too. But enough, that's not what you asked for ...
Some additions to what is said before:
- Times New Rohmans is not a valid font on my system. Times New Roman is. I wouldn't fall back to arial because thats all different from TNR. Maybe some common style 'serif'?
- why don't you use an external style sheet and thus use the same layout for your pictures-page?
- the style of the photo gallery is quite like photo gallery
;) You could try making the thumbnail page with Irfanview and copying the essential content to your own made page. Then you can keep you lay-out the same on every page. If I remember well, it builds up in a smoother way (picturesize in the tag).
- why did you call the photo gallery 'test' ;) ?
- for a businesssite I would consider hiring webspace at a more serious provider. Just have a look at http://home.neb.rr.com/ and you'll see what I mean.
Succes!

I do plan on switching it to a external style sheet just havn't got around to it yet. I will change the font around, thank you. As for the place that is hosting it I had some free space from my email provider so I put it out there until I thought that it was good enough for people to really find. I think I am getting close. So do you have any suggestions for a good place that hosts them?

I also suggest IPowerWeb (www.ipowerweb.com).
I've been happy with them so far!

I 'va had my domain registration at Netnation, Canada. Very professional. I presume the hosting service is alike.
I changed all to demon (UK, NL) because I live in NL and I wanted everything in one place. BTW, demon is OK, too, but it's not USA based.
If you register for your own domain name, make sure you are the owner of the domain name, not the registrar. Some register for you and makes themselves owner, so you can't move anymore.
Also make sure what the costs are for moving away, because some firms want money if you leave.
Find yourself a provider who let you use php scripting, you'll need it within a year. Preferably combined with mySQL. Basics of PHP are quite easy and you'll find a lot of free scripts on internet.

To add my 2 cents, I have a site hosted with http://www.webhost4life.com - the 5.95 / month plan, and I couldnt be happier - topnotch tech support and absolute *kickass* web-based control panel. You can do *everythng* from it.

Crap - I am noticing it is now a 4.95 / month deal...
oh well, whats a buck ...?
A buck can get you alot of things =)
A dollar in a table dancers um thing
A double cheese burger at MCD'S
A Taco at tacobell.
A soda in a machine. not to mention snacks inside the other machine.
Did i mention the table dancer thing?
A refill at the Sev~11
A few candy bars at Safeway or Wally world.
A saving account over a year could return you 2 cents. A few other dollars can return more.
A mcchicken at again MCD'S
Oh these are only for American and Canadian folks in N. America. I'm sure a dollar in a 2nd world or a 3 world country could get you in lots of trouble LOL.
Not sure what a 40 oz beer goes for since I don't drink I think they cost more than buck though.
Did I mention a dollar in a g-string of table dancer? LOL
So a buck can go a long way even the guys on TV tell us of saving on Telephone charges =p

Seems a little illogical that the buttons sink on mouseover. They should sink when you click and push them into the page.
