Ok, need some help here. I belong to a group that has it's own website. Our webmaster is really good at what he does, but he's so good he's driving me nuts! (he does this for a living, not just our website)
Here's my problem, I've been sending link requests out to groups like ours with a banner in .swf format. Most of the sites, can't seem to use that format. Is it that tough to put up? Might there be servers who don't allow it's use? Most of these people say that they want .jpeg, .bmp or .gif. Is .swf too new or complicated for the average Joe to use?
I'm just a novice, as are many of the people I've contacted. My impression is that keeping it simple when sending link banners to non-professional sites is the best thing to do. I know most people have Flash for viewing, but is it not mainstream enough for the average webmaster to handle?
Since most of you are probably on the same expert level as our webmaster, I need your input. I need to understand what the average site is able to handle. A lot of them are on free servers (ie. geocities and the like). It's a hobby that we all have in common and we have websites to share our research. Like me, most of them have full-time jobs that are not web authoring.
