Hi all I wanted to get your thoughts about using guestbooks. How do you feel about them.
Thanks

One thing in favor of guestbooks is that they are a quick and easy way for your visitors to provide you with feedback on your site; what they liked, what they didn't like etc.
One drawback is that you open yourself up to some pretty rough and raunchy language from people who are encouraged by the anonymity a guestbook allows (no name or email required to sign). That's something to keep in mind if your site is supposed to be family friendly.
Just my two cents, :)

I agree with Joe and David on both those points.... to avoid the guestbook and rude people try using bravenet guestbook since it has a bad language filter, you can ask up to fifteen questions, it's fully customisable and has IP banning to stop trouble makers as a method of last resort.

Thanks all. I have bravenet and I will be making it look the way I like so it says I can do. I hope I can figure out how to make the filters work once I find that area :-).
Hey I posted my new site info in the other thread so you all can come and see my 1st ever site. So please stop in and read what the strange but wonderful TM wrote.
He has been my God sent. If it wasnt for him that site wouldnt be there. Now all I have to do it figure out how to list him as web guru.

It is unbelievable what people will write so I am slightly opposed to guest books that do not allow the user privacy.
