Hello everybody!

I've been working on this site for several years now, in different incarnations, and I finally feel confident enough to share it with the world.

http://www.musicbomb.com

It is still just the basic stucture, no content to speak of. Oh, and it is all tables.... I've been reading up on the whole tables vs. css discussion and I am convinced that css is the way to go. So I'll have to learn to use that and convert the site to css. A daunting task but I'm looking forward to it.

Please tell me what you think!

The design is pretty slick-looking , I like the techno look of it. Some things I noticed:
[list=1]
It could benefit from some gaphics for a bit of added visual interest.
Upon arriving at the home page, I had no idea whatsoever what the site's reason for ebign was, save that it ahd something to do with music. So an explanation blurb on the home page (or at least a link somewhere) explaining what the site is
I kept wanting to click the album covers for a larger view... will they be clickable at some point?

Thanks for the feedback!

1. It could benefit from some gaphics for a bit of added visual interest.

2. Upon arriving at the home page, I had no idea whatsoever what the site's reason for ebign was, save that it ahd something to do with music. So an explanation blurb on the home page (or at least a link somewhere) explaining what the site is

3. I kept wanting to click the album covers for a larger view... will they be clickable at some point?

1. I'm not sure. I adhere to the content-over-style school. In fact, I've tried to keep the amount of images to a bare minimum, making the pages light and fast-loading. But I get your point, it can get too boring to look at.

2. Agreed! Thanks for that one. When you've been working on a site for a while you tend to forget that visitors don't know it inside out like you do. I was working on the 'about' page to explain musicbomb, so I'll finish that one first. And a blurb on the home page is not a bad idea.

3. They will not be clickable. They're just there to give the visitor a sense of the album I'm discussing/reviewing.

One thing I would suggest you do is to change the Artist section from static HTML pages into a few dynamic pages that retrieve the artist info from a database. The number of artists you have is definitely enough to justify a database. It could make management a whole lot easier assuming you know how to use it.

I disagree. The static page url gives the visitor an immediate visual clue as to where there are in the site. It also increases searchability and findability (if there are such words) by search engines. And this is not a shop. Items are not likely to change.

Thanks again for your input and happy coding!
