Sweet! Happy Bday - I gotta know though - why on earth would you prefer windows 98 over XP - I mean 98 is soooo unstable...

Actually 98 isn't that bad stability wise if you don't do stupid things to it. But I agree with the why would you use 98 over xp, since xp is a better system.

But RAM is cheap :-)

- I have had much better hardware support with both 2k pro and xp pro than win98.

Oh well everyone's "rig" is different and thus so is their experience I guess...

IMHO XP is much better (stable) than Win98 in handling system resources and memory hogging programs (leakage). Not quite the leap (improvement) from Win95 to 98 but in my experience it seems more stable.

As David said XP requires much more RAM with all its extra's but a majority of the system setups being sold today now come with at least 256MB if not more RAM so it really shouldn't be an issue.

I dunno i never really have been a fan of xp.... ive used it alot and jus doesnt really fit my fancy..... 98 works better for my gameing as you said and works great with the types of programs that i use when im running multiple programs at once and xp slows alot when i run the same programs on it and i dont like that..... i also dont like alot of the attachments and addins that xp comes with..... and from what ive seen xp isnt really all that stable either...... but maybe im jus living in the stone age and like tradition who knows but im sticking with my 98 for a while...... untill i absolutly need xp or another operating system......

me :2love: windows 98

I couldn't deal with that - I'd take so long to decide which OS I'd wanted to use, I'd never get anything done! :D

But Happy Birthday, coder4life, and congratulations on training your family - I get very strange looks when I tell mine that I've spent my bday money on domain names! :o
