Could you be a little more specific?
A graphical editor is quite a different app than frames...
btw a graphical editor for what exactly?

Sorry, I've never used homesite 3+, I was wondering what you meant by "graphical editor". A paint program?

If you have used Frontpage 2000+ you will find working with frames very easy....

Do you mean WYSIWYG? First Page 2006 has that in the "Design" tab.

It does and it's OK but pretty light as to what you can do. Tables is pretty much it. No frames creation in the litte toolbar that comes up where you can create a frameset and then drag to create your frames layout. Or being able to insert an iframe or images, or set bgcolor. I think that is what the person wanted.

A bit of an old thread but the only true clean coded WYSIWYG editor I have seen is Dreamweaver 8....I have heard a few bugs in the First page 2006 version however I'm sure Admin is correcting those issue mentioned in the bugs forum

Well, I can't afford that kind of program. I use an old one that was free and works great..as long as you're just doing the design layout and not using divs, so I do basic layout tables, frames, etc, then all the rest images, text, css, and so on in 1st Page. Everyone can laugh now :hehe: AOLPress. I'm still messing [as in playing around ] with 2006 and will post my wish list when I'm done. Also, where do I post to ask questions about it? I'm having trouble with finding things, or maybe there's something wrong with my version. For example, I see posts on css and mention of the style editor, but though I find the fly out for it, nothing happens when I click that.

Link to forum for discusson (http://developers.evrsoft.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=18) of First page...post topic that fits the best category. :)

Yes its an expensive program....but the hard part is actually finding a good wysiwyg editor or what is known as a true wysiwyg editor......

There are many that kinda boast that, and hopeing FP 2006 does that..

However if you know how to code a wysiwyg editor is not needed....best in to you in your quest to find an editor..

Oh, I know how to code. The problem is I can't visualize that code as the final product. Some can do that well so don't really need that kind of editor. I gave up looking for a wysiwyg because you are correct, they are not really that. Not like AOLPress was and I guess Dreamweaver is now. Though I hear that it puts in strange codes or something which AOLPress doesn't.

First Page does all I need, and a lot more, I've been waiting a long time for the new one, with all of you, and am ecstatic it's finally here!

Is the link where I post 2006 questions? I don't have a problem with 2000, it's with the new one I'm having trouble and I just don't know if I'm missing something I was supposed to download or something I'm supposed to check/select to get it to work.

Well all you have to do is post in any of those and just specifiy the 2006 version...there is no special forum for 2006 and perhaps is a good idea to make one. I don't have the privledged to do that on this forum but its a good idea non the less.

Do you have the link to download 2006 verions...I think its found in FP announcements area.

Yes, I got the version but I keep seeing posts in the bugs report section about things that for some reason don't seem to be activated in mine. For example, this post (http://developers.evrsoft.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4269&page=2&pp=22)

look at 2. and 3. This person is clicking on the style designer and getting something, in my download I can click that style designer all I want and nothing happens, it's like there's nothing there.

I also think there should be a special forum for 2006. Actually, I think there should be more than one forum since you can't have a forum/subforum set up. One forum for helping and maybe wish list, and one that is for bug reports only and divided, like General Program bugs, CSS bugs, and so on. I believe that would be much easier for the programmers working on it. That way each forum would include only things to do with x and they could see at a glance which area needed the most work. I was reading some of the bug reports and they jump all over the place and also include wish items, like saying something works like this and it would be better like that. I'm surprised the team has a clue how much and what has been reported as a bug and what is I'd like it to work like this instead or have this added to it.

I don't like the new FirstPage, it takes to much time to load plus the thing is slow...

Well, it does take time to load, but I'm not sure if that's because it's in beta and there are still bugs being worked out. I wouldn't mind the load time, given all the things available in the program, as long as it runs quickly once loaded. I'm not a programmer so don't know the interaction of various things, but maybe it would be possible to make some of the things into modules that could be disabled by the user if they weren't needed. I'm sure not everyone uses everything.

Firstpage does not have a good interface for PHP, and i don't understand what the notice it gives in the startup. do I need to buy it...

If you are talking about 2006, this is a beta version, it's in testing. The notice is a legal notice that the program cannot be distributed. You can download it to do testing and report bugs or wish lists but you can't put the program on your website for others to download and it can't be distributed. 2006 beta has an expiration date on it of 12/01/05. I believe it will not work after that date, since it is a beta version for development. I don't know what happens at that point, if a newer test version comes out or an alpha test version or something. If you have bugs to report you can post them in the following forum : http://developers.evrsoft.com/forum/showthread.php?p=22758#post22758

And, I see people posting wish lists in this one: http://developers.evrsoft.com/forum/showthread.php?p=22759#post22759

It woldn't hurt if 2006 had a better PHP support. It has only what 2000 had.
