2dbindel: The only subliminal message here is "Big brother is watching you!" ;)

Also, I think that Sky also had a subliminal message in his post, but I must correct him, the number of your posts is just a text, not an image :p

For means of use in the wireless world.
one can view that image on a wireless
device. Since your picture is fairly simple
it can be ported. Usually the nokia and older
phones can't display that because of the 2 types
of grey scale.

This is just an example

At one time it was located on my website sorta deleted it on a make over sorry.

Boris,
I realize this is an old thread, (I've even read it before...LOL)
but in re-reading, i realized you may actually answer a
question I asked dbindle a month or so ago, and he never
answered...
I know that Windows XP has an open portal (I found out
going to other rooms) and wondered if you could answer
a couple of questions that come to mind...
Can I still install/un-install (please tell me which) Windows XP and close the portal? If
so, could you tell me how? I am buying a new PC and it
has Windows XP already installed.
If I cannot close the portal, can I un-install XP and install
98' from disc, and this will close the portal?
Thank you Boris, for your help.

You may be thinking of Universal Plug and Play in Windows XP.

There is a utility to turn if off to be found here (http://grc.com/default.htm) (UnPlug n' Pray) as well as the XPdite utility. The URL trick is closed if you download the latest XP service pack.

Steve's site is a wealth of computer information and some neat little utilities like Wizmo.

Check it out

DC,
Which programs from the link you supplied are suggested by you?
Which version of Windows are you running?
Will any you suggest slow down my connection to AOL?
(I have "zonealarm" and it drives me nuts with the unaccessible webpages it prohibits, so I end up shutting it off...)

Personally I suggest all if you do have a question beyond the information provided by the app I might suggest asking GRC directly. Other wise I suggest all of them the UPNP is an essential util. Socket Lock is another util I suggest.

As for your AOL hummm why be part of the masses why don't you support a local ISP? I know your skimping on the cash but when it comes to ISP's you should have total control of your browser. Not a internet giant like AOL.

AOL Time Warner is so big.
LOL - "How Big is it?"
Haven't come up with another line beyond this point
Sorry

I have Unplug & Pray, Wizmo, IP_agent, LeakTest and "Trouble in Paridise" a zip drive checking utility. They are all fast and reliable.

His ShieldsUp and ProbeMyPorts web utilities are top notch and a good way to check your computer for weaknesses in hacker prevention.

None of them will affect your connection or bandwidth.

I have Win98, WinMe, Win2K and XPpro systems at home. Runa a hardware firewall with a SMC Barricade router.

ZoneAlarm shouldn't give you so much trouble - have you configured it to allow connections on certain ports by certain programs?
