alright, i'm new, have many questions, but will try to stay focused.

i'm a single parent and my family is back east, i'm trying to create a simple page that would allow them to see new photos of my son.

i can do enough that i could create a real basic page and just have the .jpg's out there, but i'm too picky for that. i want scrolling text, some animated gifs and would love to do a little javascript photo slide show.

from what i've seen so far, 1st page should make that a fairly simple task, right?

so, what are the tricks some of you folks are using to do things like this? i would probably like to branch into actually having a webcam for the baby and have that accessible via entering a password, that type of thing.

any suggestions are welcome. i don't like to read cause i'm slow, so please keep the advice easy to follow. thanks in advance all you smart people.

:D

cool.

i'm pretty slow so it's gonna take me awhile to figure out how i can use those effects on my page, but it looks like a good place to start!

thanks again.

that's cool too, only for that one it looks like you have to pre-organize the images into something called an .swf file, which i'm assuming is like a movie of some sort.

i guess i can search for this .swf extension and see if i can find any software to create them.

i tried the first place you directed me to and it seems like you have to buy something. i downloaded the file it said to and generated the code and put everything where it was supposed to be and i only get a blank square where the effect is supposed to be.

hmmm.... thoughts?

the swf is Macromedia flash ..not what I was refering to it was the html album.. a simple one to start with...I downloaded and tried the applet one it works but not sure if you can use it for free
very slow loading as most of these applets are..better to move on to somthing simpler..and totally free..

thanks!

i'm playing with the html one now, you're right that's a lot easier and a good place to start, that's for sure.

i'm just replacing their images with my own and that seems to be working alright.
