Some questions about 1st Page 2000:
First, is there any easy way to make a project from a directory or a web site?
Are there real benefits to defining a project?
Is there any sort of template/text replacement mechanism to allow me to change HTML in just one place and have it changed for the whole web site? Things like headers, footers, etc.
Thanks,
Pat.

Here's a link to another thread (http://developers.evrsoft.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1847) that will help you on your last question about a "replacement mechanism".
I'm a bit confused by your first two questions. Could you clairfy a bit more on what "project" means in those terms?
Again, welcome to our community :)

I'm talking about projects in the same terms that 1st Page uses them, using the Project Manager tab. It becomes annoying to individually add files if I have a site with 10 or 20 or more html files. Is there a way to import a whole directory tree, for example?

I've imported all my files in the project by using the shift tab then selecting all files from the directory in the "Add to project" window. That was fast enough for me !
The benefits I've seen (with my short experience) from using projects are :
having all the files I need accessible from 1st page window
marking the pages "completed" when I don't plan coming back to them
marking some files with special icons to find them easy in the list
not showing the gif/jpg files I don't work on
Some problems I've had :
couldn't include sub-directories
no possible renaming (but I suppose that's security to prevent broken links) thus having to delete the file and re-import it if renamed in the directory; but I suppose it should be automatic if renaming is done with 1stPage closed, haven't tried (can't now, supposed to be working for my boss)
And I'm sure they are more (benefits not problems of course :D )...
Thanks to animgirl for the link that might help me with multiple changing in dozens pages (I need that since I stopped using frames) ... but I don't think I'm ready for php yet ... sounds nice but I lack time to get into something new. Pity, pity, pity !
