Why not include WebDav/webfolder support in the Sidebar explorer.
Then you can have editing on the server just like FP or InterDev.
It would be a GREAT addition. ESPECIALLY for those who are moving from FP.

I agree with this. Composer also supports this. It is very easy to edit and publish a page remotely without running an FTP server.

This is a feature seen in HTMLkit and works really well. If you open something from FTP in the sidebar explorer, a Ctrl+S is all you have to do to save it via FTP. It becomes completely transparent to the user.
The bad part of the implementation is that the preview of a file opened via FTP works with a local tmp~filename.html copy so you can't view it in context. I'm not sure of a way around that one without constantly updating a temp FTP copy or downloading all linked images, JS, stylesheets to the same directory as the local tempfile. Neither is particularly viable unles the previewer were somehow capable of resolving relative to absolute addresses on the fly.
