I've just downloaded the 1st page software and am wondering if it's possible to purchase a template -- say from basictemplates.com and then edit it with 1st page?
If it is possible, do I just unzip the template file and then import it into 1st page?

there is a 'template' folder in the firstpage folder. Unzip it there.

Yes put it into
C:/program files/evrsoft/first page 2000/templates/
actually you can put it anywhere and then right click on it and select edit with first page 2000

Thanks so much for your help.
New question: I just learned, in order to add or change the navigation button names on a pre-designed template, I'll need to be able to edit them in some type of image editing program. I'm aware that many people use Photoshop for editing but I just don't want to invest that kind of money in a program I am not planning on using that often.
Can someone perhaps provide a list of alternative programs - free or low cost, that I might be able to consider using for this purpose?

There are a million peple who post a question that has been answered amillion times before. Remember The "Virus" that will destroy your computer. There Are About 100 Topics About It all Saying That It Is Not A Virus And That The People At Norton Are Idiots.

Thanks for your help, Azlatin200.
Mike Parent... I DID search the boards for answers to my questions BEFORE I asked.
Being a novice, I simply wasn't sure whether or not I could use the software mentioned on the other thread (which I did read -- again, before I posted) with the images I'd be editing that come with the templates through basictemplates.com.
In addition, although I DID search for an answer to my question regarding using templates with 1st page (which was the main reason for my post to begin with) I wasn't able to find a thread on the topic specifically which provided an appropriate answer to my question.
Isn't this supposed to be a support forum? I thought it was. It's called the "Newbie Forum" and right on the main page it says, "This forum is specifically for newbies... a safe place to ask any simple question having to do with introductory website design and development."
Is it such a crime when someone posts a duplicate question? And my gosh, if you think about it... if it's such a waste of your time to read a duplicate question, why on earth did you take the time to rant about it? I'd say that was an even bigger waste of time!
I myself run a forum with well over a thousand members and there are plently of times when I have had to direct people to previoulsy discussed topics for answers to their questions.
In my opinion though, since it is a support forum, I think it's much better to simply redirect a member than to let my feathers get all ruffled and make flipant comments with the intent of making them feel stupid.
Though I generally suspect they didn't take the time to search the boards before they posted, I honestly don't know if that is the case or not. They may have been in a situation similar to my own here, and I wouldn't have any idea -- unless I asked them. To save time though, AND to ensure I'm not being unfair, I prefer to try to be as helpful as I can... while also making sure they know to search before they post.
Especially if they're NEW!
Some people just don't (or won't), search posts before they post their own questions. That's just a fact of life on the net. Personally, I've learned to deal with it.

Sorry - I was just a little annoyed because it had just happened recently on a similar question. My apologies, its just a little frustrating sometimes - when you find yourself reading/answering the same questions repeatedly.
My bad, I forgot where I was...

No worries, MikeParent. Thanks for the apology though. An unexpected yet gracious thing for you to do. :)

I'm not as bad as I might first seem ;-)
Just a crusty old-timer is all...
