I've joined this forum at a friend's suggestion, so I am a total newbie. I use FrontPage 2002, but I do know a little html. I post eBay listings through SpareDollar, using custom templates from FP. I have been very satisfied with the results so far, only occassionally editing the code to fix junk.

I've recently bought a notebook and set up a wireless network at home, and I'm planning on using the notebook to work on listings offline when I'm not at home.

I'm hoping I can make some kind of description template with 1st page, based on the code I normally use from FrontPage, so I can avoid having to buy a 2nd copy of FP (ouch!). This would involve text and thumbnail pictures within the copy, which link to enlarged pics at SpareDollar.

Am I in the right place? Does it sound like 1st Page will do what I want? I'm asking blindly, because I've never tried to do anything from scratch, only modified existing WYSIWYG code occassionally.

If you take a look at some of my auctions, rather than a store item, you'll see the latest version of my custom templates. Maybe that would help you to see what I have in mind, and help me to decide whether or not I can make good use of 1st Page.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and hopefully respond. All constructive comments are appreciated.

I am not too sure what you are asking, but I think -

Lets not get confused by the word templates for the moment and look at html files

A html file can be opened by FP or 1st page, and it matters little which one created it.

A template is really just a html file that has the basics before you add detail or more, and save it as a different name.

For example template1.html may contain the basics of you page (something like the templates sparedollar offers) and you change, add, or delete what you want before saving it as MyFile.html

So in answer to your 1st question

Both FP (wysiwyg and manual editor) and 1st page (manual editor) are html editors. You can therefore take all the code from one of you previous templates, or even easier, just open the file with 1st page. You may be even able to get one of the sparedollar templates and change it to what you want in both FP or 1st page.

No problem, but 1st page is a hand coding and you may need to know a lot more about html than you do now. Remember you may be able to use a sparedollar template and change it ( it depends on what their policies are) .

Depending on what your objectives are - a) have a easy to use editor so I can make changes when required, or b) become a html developer.

If (a) then maybe a free or cheap wysiwyg editor is what you really want.

Thanks for your input. I'm in the process of trying to get an additional license of software I already have, just to help my sanity. I really don't want another learning curve, if I can help it, but I don't want to spend big bucks, either. Can't have my cake and eat it too, I know.
I've downloaded 1st page now, so when I have time I'll try it out on 1 auction and see how I do.
Sorry I had such a hard time explaining what I'm trying to do, but I really do appreciate your reply.
