I havn't even started designing my first site yet but I am about to, I have one question before I start, should I find a domain name first or can I call my site "my site" for example and then find a domain name later, what are the pro's and cons of this???

An alternate perspective...

The domain name, if well-chosen and interesting, can have an effect on the look of your pages if it suggests a theme. That can affect everything from the images you use to color scheme... so you might want to keep that in mind.

You need not choose a domain name yet, but having a good theme related to your site content (and coming up with a creative and available domain name) can actually spark the creative process...

thanks thats good advice, I do have a great and original idea for a site and I'm fairly sure its not been done before my main concern was that if I build all kinds of headings and logos and then findI cant use any of it because my domain name doesn't match I'm just goingto end up doing everything twice, but on the other hand I don't want to pay for a domain name and find I'm not capable of designing the site

They Say They are free (http://www.a2z-free.com/free-domain-names.php)
Nothing that is free comes without "attachments".....
The only free thing you can count on is the advice you get here
Most of the time :p :p

thanks that was a usefull link, One thing I've found so far which is frustrating and I'm sure I'm not alone is you think of a great name and someone else has it, thats not too bad, but when they have the great name and its being used for a crap site which is not conected to the theme of the domain name is just a real waste
