I have inserted images before with little trouble. I am trying to insert an image to be used as a button (178*90). Using the insert - image from the menu, 1st Page bombs totally off, and closing the program. If I type the entry in place, the frame is there but no image. Any ideas??

Maybe you type it wrong......
you can also try to find the image in the browsing-menu on the right side of the interface, and then drag it to the HTML edit-page.

Or maybe the program is so old and it has problems with the operating system (which one is it anyway?).

thats the same OS i have and that never happened to me. Are you up to date with all of your windows patches? Also aRE YOU SURE NONE OF THE DLLS GOT DELETED SOMEHOW. tRY reinstalling and see what happens.
PS: by the program being old i meant that its like 4 years old and the new version isn't coming out.

What is wild about this issue, is that I can insert other jpgs already on the network and in use else where on the website. I did have to edit this jpg in adobe. I will have to have the techs reload another copy of the software. Frustrating!

Guess what, if I convert the edited pdf/jpg, to a png or gif, the insert image works, why?????

Maybe the version of jpeg that fp is made for is different than the current one. I don't know.

Don't feel bad - I have exactly the same problem. I have been using 1st Page for years without a problem. Now that I have XP running, I can't import images into 1st Page.

try png or gif files instead of jpg. I am wondering if it has something to do with Adobe created jpg instead of XP?? I got it done with the other types.

The problem (to me) is the loss of a function just because I had to upgrade to XP. For what it's worth, I have removed 1st Page and re-installed . . . same problem.
Perhaps this is Microsoft's way of telling us to buy Front Page???

Also confusing the issue is that I can insert other jpgs already on other webpages with no problems. Confusing ain't it!

Right!
Here's my temporary solution:
1. Take an existing webpage, delete almost everything (like making a template), and save as a new web page (template.html)
2. Load what I want into the new web page and save it with a new name (page1.html)
3. Keep the blank (template.html) for future use.
4. Work on the new web page (page1.html). Add graphics or whatever . . . it seems to work. What does not work is starting with a new 1st Page default page. Odd isn't it??
