1st Transfer

I have been using 1st Page for about 2 years, not regularly, but enough to know how much I enjoyed using it compared to Netscape Composer for putting simple web pages together.

I bought a new computer this spring, and downloaded 1st Page to it. When I went to find 1st Transfer, all I could find were broken links, 404 errors, etc. I did finally find it, I can't remember where, but I did find one working download site.

Could I recommend it be made available through the link on the site again, if this hasn't been fixed already.

I think that is where I found it eventually, now that you reminded me. I believe I was pointed to it by a use group, but you are correct, it sure isn't something you can find on the 1st Page site. The link should restored on the homepage, as it makes life a lot easier. I found I used it when I had to make minor edits, upload them to the web site, right from the program, and then check to ensure the changes I wanted happened.

i have to agree. im not a huge fan of 1st transfer. it never worked as good as my other ftp apps.

I guess what I liked about it is the ability to hit it once I finished my editing, and be ready to load to file up to my server. I used WS-FTP as well, and when I was moving a lot of images, pages, etc, I preferred to use it, but for simple ease of use with one file, clicking on that little rocket ship sure was handy.

It was strange how it wasn't just bundled with 1st Page, but had to be downloaded seperately, even though the button was in the 1st Page toolbar, and it was even stranger how the link to it just sort of disappeared. I am sure there are some interesting stories behind the benign neglect of 1st Page and its website the past year or more.

My own personal choice for FTP is FlashFXP, as for 1st Transfer I don't think I ever used it :p

I use cuteftp cause it's eazy to use.lol:D

Did you make sure to download the updated version of 1st Page 2000 and 1st transfer? You need both programs updated for it to work. Other wise, get WSFTP_LE to upload files.
