I think a banner exchange can work, if done right. I've seen small *non animated* banners on many sites that I didnt mind, even when I was on 28.8k. You could also try making a 'links' section with affilliates or related sites and place larger banners there.

Under the right circumstances for the right kind of site. I think a suggested "banner" size with no animation is essential. But I would not add a banner to my site with garish colors that distracted from my site. Un-obtrusive links, maybe.

I would be kind to add a little text on to my website. Give all us a chance to get alittle more hitz. How do you plan on doing this? I think someone should create a javascript that we could all add to our site that will rotate or randomly show a link to one of our sites.

Like the Idea and we know we can trust you to keep track of the ad banners. If you want something advanced and already made check out http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Banner_Exchange might be quicker and better. That's unless you really want to create the script.

So what size banners are we looking at here?

ICEntertainment may well be interested in it for our relaunch (hopefully next month if we're not too busy filming!!)

Hi everyone!
I am new in here and was reading your posts about sharing ads. I am curious about what type of web sites you are all involved in. I noticed the mod developes web sites, it seems that all of you are promoting dif businesses in here. I am of course interested in increasing traffic to my site as well, but really try to stick to car enthusiest sites since we sell after market auto parts. Is there anyone else in here involved in the automotive business?
I personally , as a user, don't like when there aren't flashy signs in my way or poping up in the middle of something. if i like a site i usually will check out their links page. at that time i am then ready to receive new info.

I do almost the same thing as dbindel but I am more for personalized sites.

I have not commented on this thread simply because I had zero interest. I would hate to see you (David) spend time creating a script.

My reasons:
-I would never put an advertisement for another web page to divert attention from the current page if I had developed the site for a paying customer.

-I would never add yet another advertisement to a "FREE" site which already contains an overbearing number of irritating banner adds, etc.

Just my 2 cents worth...

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I get completely free hosting with Orcon NZ, ad-free.

All I'm interested in is increasing my traffic through a simple banner/link exchange. Nothing irritating or overbearing.

Yeah I'll gladly exchange... I have a small site that is all about car boot sales, flea markets, auctions etc at www.carbooting.com and would gladly exchange banners with anyone in the UK.

Whoh, haven't been here in a while.

F1G: I run a community board, a obsolete site, and a gaming site.

I would be interested, as I severely need the spidering... As for the script DB, you could just make a file somewhere with the db grabber and use file_get_contents(); to grab the output (a <img src='thesite.com' />

Also, I need to change my links, I moved....
