Hey, I wanna know what FTP program you guys use. I'm currently using Coffee Cup FTP, the free version.
But I would like to know if you guys know of any good ftps?

I don't really need anything from the 'good' ftps. But I would like one that is fast and that will let me access all my files.
The downer of my coffee cup ftp is that I can't upload folders. I have to manually create the folders and then drag all the files. Thats why I wanted to know if there were any ftps you guys recommened.
Yeah, so I'll check out Smart FTP. Thanx guys.:)

Is it better than cuteFTP pro 3.0?

In my opinion it is, plus it's free...
Compare: SmartFTP (http://www.smartftp.com/features.php) & CuteFTP (http://www.cuteftp.com/products/cuteftppro/features.asp)...

Bullet Proof FTP (http://www.bpftp.com/) has been a favourite of mine for years. The biggest minus however is - it's not free. I am now trying out SmartFTP (http://www.smartftp.com/) thanks to you, BoR|S. I am really impressed with the feature set, however I dislike the interface.
So in my opinion, if you can spend some money on it - use BPFTP, otherwise I guess SmartFTP is what rave is about nowdays in the world of FREE.

I like WS_FTP because I have been using it for soooo long. I hear lots of good things about SmartFTP.

I like SmartFTP - but I really dislike the auto-update thing! I tried to update the other day, and finaly gave up after about 5 web sites, 3 disconnects, a WinInstaller problem, ... etc etc!
D'you think auto-update is the thing of the future? It seems more and more popular, but how will affect virus checkers?
Sorry, seem to have wandered off the topic a bit!

I agree that SmartFTP is good, but I have been after them about making thier explorer interface work properly. (Their folders window is useless unless you are downloading, I wanted them to make it two-way by adding a favorites folder into the window... infact so did about 40 other people, it was one of the fastest growing threads ever, but someone kept asking for a date and they shut down the thread) I think that there are a few others out there that are worth checking out:
Whispertech's FTP Surfer (http://www.whispertech.com/surfer/whatsnew.htm)
FTPDesktop (http://www.ftpdesktop.net/)
Internet Neighborhood (http://www.knowareinc.com/products/inpro/index.html)
I use them all, but some are trial and some are free.

I would consider WSFTP. The locations of several FTP's are in The Web Tools list (http://dev.home.mindspring.com)

If I may chime in at this very late date, I endorse both SmartFTP and CuteFTP. I used SmartFTP for a very long time, and I was very satisfied. I came across something that I needed to do via FTP that SmartFTP wouldn't do (and for the life of me, I can't remember what it was, I'm gettin' too freakin' old, but I think it had to do with either folder manipulation or deleting files within folders), and I found that CuteFTP could do what I wanted. And somehow, I got convinced to buy CuteFTP Pro, and it's all I use now.
I wouldn't presume to tell anyone that they should use CuteFTP instead of SmartFTP, unless they run across some missing function that they need. They're both great.

Never ask a man where he's from. If he's from Texas, he'll tell ya soon enough. If he ain't, don't embarrass him.
Knew a Texan once. He died. Wife could not find a casket big enough to bury him. One enterprising undertaker gave him a laxative and buried him in a shoebox.

Good one! And the best part is, it helps you overcome your feelings of inadequacy. :)
Just joshin' with ya, pardner. A few light-hearted jabs can be fun!

Am I the ONLY PERSON EVER TO USE FrontPage's own FTP program? I dont get it...
It gets the file to my server. Thats it. But its free and it integrates into FrontPage seamlessly (I.E. Its justa mouse-click away in the menu up top)

I downloaded FileZilla (open source), but haven't tried it yet. Looks like SmartFTP. http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla
Most expert commentary I've seen seems to favor CuteFTP, but that costs money.
I like WS_ftp lite for single files, and SmartFTP for folders.

I'm with EnwTheGood I hate programs that always try to load them selves in windows startup. I only trust those that allow you to right click remove them from systray and give you the option to not load on next start up. If u have to remove them "msconfig" everytime you use the program most likely I do not continue to use it. I like the old ws_ftp95le, tried the trial but it was a little buggy. The old one is stable maybe not the prettiest but works. Will check out the smart ftp program, had one 3d ftp seem to be nice however none have seem to be that great to make the hurdle to pay. Have not heard any mention of 1st transfer but have a feeling that most people like a separate ftp program than to use one included in the editor

Leech FTP all the way, baby!!!
First, it's free.
Second, it's light.
Third, it's fast.
Fourth, no ads or anything anoying like that.
Err.... Yeah and also it's just ftp, no other stupid stuff. Just basic, upload, download, CHMOD, create, delete and copy files... You know, the basic stuff.

maybe it is really smart which would mean that I am really dumb!!! After the rave reviews I decided to download it and try it. So far I cannot connect says " connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
Connection closed." I have tried it with two sites and have input all info correctly. After about a half an hour of wasted time I give up!!! All info is identical to what is input in ws_ftple and connect with it so it is not my server.
PS Does not seem to be a way to save your site info or have multiple sites. Each time on starting I have to re-input the info. I do not know if this is true but if it is I find it irratating and will not use it.
The way that everyone raved on this one maybe I am doing something wrong, but doubt it. What Gives!!!!!
I use WS_FTP ... simple and gets the job done.
