It's nice to see a Beta for the new 1stPage. So far so good - except for Oh-So-Slow opening - any way to speed that up?
The text wrap is not as much of a problem as the first version, but making it permanent setting is a must. Having to Control-W everytime I open the program is a hassle. Could you have an option in the General Settings to set the screen wrap so it's permanently on or off?
I'll keep playing around with the Beta to see how things go .....
The WYSIWIg is a nice touch and it's great to not have the tabs detach.

"remember wordwrap on app open/close".
this will be fixed in the update. :)
I'll see what can be done to speed up loading, may I ask what PC hardware specs you have.
Thanks

Takes about 10 or so seconds to load. Tried turning startup window off, still the same.

The beta loads slowly for me too. It even takes longer than it does to load Adobe Illustrator or Elements.
Computer tested with: 1.4GHz Intel Celeron, 512MB RAM (More than enough).

I did a proper timing on the start up for the program - 19 seconds.
For those of us who would use this on a regualar basis, it's crucial this program is up very quickly.
I can understand slow loading on old processors, but mine is 1.7 and I've got 512mb like the user above. My old version of Homesite (4.5.2) loads in 2 seconds, which is more like it.

Part of the requirements for the program is a minimum of 512MB of RAM. I personally think that is a bit excessive for an HTML editor. I have 1.2GB of RAM and it loads just fine for me with that and my 1.6Ghz Athlon.
It also could be the way you have Windows setup too, I have personally seen people with over 50 programs running in the taskbar and the background, that will slow your system considerably, and I am not saying that is what your problem is just pointing out that there are other factors involved.

10 seconds? I have a slightly jacked-up Inspiron 2200 (PM 1.7, 512 MB RAM) and it doesn't take that long.
If anything, it took about as long as it took FP2000 to start up on my old 366, which was still only about 5 seconds.

In the final version, Word Wrap still appears to have to be invoked each time you open FP. And Word Wrap really should be the default, IMHO.

Bill, good suggestion. My suggestion on this would be for the user preference to be set in the configuration menus so that the program remembers it.. The tool on the median bar would then enable it to be toggle, same as it works now. I expect some would prefer wrap as the default and some non-wrap as the default.

I agree, Galactic.
