I developed a website and used the font "concielien"*. I went to another computer and looked at the website and the font was like in defult font or something....
Does the users computer have to have the the designed font downloaded on their computer?

Is there a code that allows other users to see this font on all computers?
thanks!

Because a font is an operating system resource, not a browser resource. If you have an unusual font installed on your PC, it's easy to design a Web page and include that font. You can see it because the font is installed on your operating system. But if your visitors don't have it installed too, their browsers will display their default font instead.

You can use the font in a graphic and use it that way or allow them to download the font from your site, but many do not like that anyways...best method, use it in some graphics

I have been told somewhere, sometime, that these fonts are "safe", ie on most computers

Tahoma, Arial, Courier New, Times New Roman, Helvetica, sans serif, Georgia.

how do you embed a font and is there any negative about it?

basically you upload the font to the server and let them download it..the negative is too much work for just a visitor to see your site. Best to make a graphic with the font, but a whole site out of an unusual font is really only for show.....best to have content that is what will keep ppl coming back for more.

There is a way to use the font for your site using server includes etc, but that is a lot of programming and I'm guessing you want a quick solution.

Using WEFT can be a bit of a pain to make the .eot file to embed a font - and then it only works with IE.
I've never used the Netscape version.
Altogether too much of a pain. Much better to aim for good content and user-friendly fonts. Use graphics for specialities.

This all seems like a lot of trouble just for a font. My favorite font is Jokerman, I'd like to see a website all in that.
