Hi,
Sorry if this has been discussed before (I couldn't find it) but as a new user I kinda expected there to be a separate forum group for FP2006. Is there any intention to do that? If not, and we should continue posting in "1st Page 2000/XP" then could you at least change the title of that to "1st Page 2000/XP/2006" to make it obvious?

TIA.

I think this a very good suggestion!

Best way is to start a new forum category FP2006 with the following sub-folders:
- developers news (admin): info on development, fixed bugs, releases, etc. etc.
- bug reports
- feature requests
- Q&A using FP2006

By the rather unlogical set up of the forum categories, threads are a bit mixed, overlapping etc.

Hope Admin picks up this suggestion!

I have to concur, this is a little cramped, and seperating the programs could help with some of the 'are you using 2000 or 2006?' questions, though you can't remove them.

I don't remember what thread I posted it, but I suggested a bug tracker application for official bugs and also a seperate subforum also for 2006 version. Its nice to see others post those comments for clarity

I agree with the posters above, having a section of the forum exprssly for FP2006 would be helpful and help to avoid confusion. I was initially puzzled about where FP2006 users were supposed to post. One advantage of having specific forums for FP2006 would be that when searching forums for information, one could confine the search to FP2006, if one wanted to.

:hellother

I'll jump on board with everyone else. A separate forum would be the best of all worlds. I would opine it would be a good thing for the developers, also, to have any bug reports, suggestions, and being able to browse the help questions being asked to have them in their own forum

Great, so everyone agrees :jumpy:
...what do we need to do to get it implemented?

Get an active administrator. Seriously. Admin has not posted or been sighted around the forums so far as I know since sometime in January. Admin seems to be the chief, cook, and bottle washer for Evrsoft. No one has reported being able to communicate with Evrsoft for a while either. Terminator1138 is the active moderator on the forums but he does not have the keys to reorganize the forums.

1st Page users here in the Community have come up with some things that seem to enable 1st Page 2006 3.0 to work.

The Community has learned through the unfortunate experiences of several who have posted here that the pro version of 1st Page is something that can be paid for but not gotten. In the words of one poster, it is purchase proof.

If you start getting a Nag Screen and decide you want to follow the link to get the pro version, don't do that. Wait 5 seconds and click on the OK button and forget the Nag Screen happened. The Nag Screen appears after some kind of counter or date check tells it to. It appears on opening and closing. It is yellow. Do not confuse it with the splash screen. The splash screen is beinign and it can be switched off.)

So where are the 1st Page 2006 final a.k.a. 3.0 forums? All the forums are. We have learned to label our threads so that folks know that is what we are talking about.

Things posted much before February could be in whole or in part refer to earlier version of 1st Page 2006 and can be taken less seriously.

Things posted much before mid-February may not reflect the latest know-how and workarounds to help avoid problems with the program. Begin with more recent things and work back.

Still ? Understandable.

Right now 1st Page 2006 3.0 may be for those highly motivated to try it out. Some have announced that they are staying with or going back to 1st Page 2002. There are some links in a forum post where you can still get the loader/installer for that. Some have announced that they are moving on to try something else.

Me? I am thinking about looking into browser based HTML editing. If I do, the browser will be Firefox. Firefox has extensions that allow it to display web pages as Internet Explorer or Opera would. There is an extension called Web Developer 1.0.2 that has a bunch of development tools. The browser and this extension are open source and actively supported.

Where did I get this stuff? Reading these forums and experience from trying things out. It is offered in hopes that this may be helpful. Some of this may not be correct. Seek verification of anything you feel needs it.

Thanks for the comprehensive reply Galactic.

Don't worry I won't confuse the nag screen with the splash screen :eyebrow:

So far, despite a lot of niggles, problems, and wasted time (like don't use FP to edit a file that's gonna be read as a data file from PERL. You get random errors or silent failures or unexpected behaviour in the script), none of the problems have been serious enough for me to abandon FP altogether.

I will follow up your suggestions though, thanks, and also search for other HTML editors. The Firefox solution in particular sounds worth a look - I've been very impressed with FF.

Whatever is out there may not have the wealth of features of FP2006 but I'm not at the bleeding edge - I only want to do simple CSS stuff - so a good editor with perhaps some colour coding and a simple preview feature is all I really want.
