I have been using 2000 for some time and no problem.
I have now reloaded 2006 - 3 times already and spent two days reading posts to see if anyone else had this problem. And found nothing, so here goes.
I have a few sites I have loaded into geocities over the years after editing in 2000 and then using the uploader at geocities without a single hitch. NOW I suddenly get an invalid file message, unable to upload going the same route as always. Now using 2006 (yes final as I just reloaded for the 3rd time to make sure) (yes I took 2000 off first, that was the case of the second time I downloaded the 2006) and now all of a sudden ...splat... I'm the bug on the windshield.
:shoot: I am cutting and pasting at the moment to keep updates going.

Before I get to my two main suggestions, you need to know that a simple remove and reinstall of 1st Page 2006 3.0 does not help solve buggy behavior of the program. At best the program will behave after doing this the way it was before you did it. You are going to have to more than that to get a solution to buggy behavior.
Can you still FTP a file that you used to be able to send from your PC to the site server? Server processes can stop working on occasion.
Is your file name in all lower case letters? Servers that use a UNIX based server require lower case extensions—maybe they need all lower case file names. There is an option in 1st Page 2006 3.0 to cause file names to be lower case. Use Windows Explorer to check on this. If indicated, rename to lower case file name and see if you can transfer the file.
Check for 1st Page 2006 3.0 is holding onto its ownership of the file. That would make it inaccessible by the FTP program/process. To see, try to pen the file with a text editor and if you can then add a trivial change to the file and see if you can save it to the original file name. If at any point during these steps you get a message from Windows, "Permission Denied", that would indicate that 1st Page 2006 3.0 has kept ownership. I expect you have at a minimum closed the file in 1st Page 2006 3.0. If you have not closed it and 1st Page 2006 3.09 is still open, that should prevent it being "sent" by FTP.
Process still owned by 1st Page, part 2: If you saved the file but instead of closing the file you have exited FP Page 2006 3.0, check to see the program really is closed: Start Task Manager (ctrl-alt-del if Windows XP), click on processes tab, and click on the name header in the processes pane. See if there is a process named 1st Page... at or near the top of your process list. If there is then the program has "closed without closing". This has been reported only once on the forums. It may have happened to others but unless one checks with Task Manager, one would not know this. If the program process is still open, close it with task manager. See if permission to access the file is now given to the text editor. See if you can FTP the file. If you can, you have solved one problem but now have another--finding a way to get the program to close when you close it.
There is something that has eliminated various buggy behaviors in FTP 2006 3.0: First do a clean remove of the program and then do a fresh download of the program followed by a new install/load, but take some actions to set some things up on the first open of the program. I can send these steps to you if you ask. I started a thread with most of the steps in the remove and reinstall process (probably enough of them) detailed in it.
Let the forums know what you find out if you work through this.
Read all forum posts from most recent going back two or three days to become informed about the current concern on the forums regarding Evrsoft. I suggest that you do that before you work on the solution to this particular problem.

Did that fresh re-load. Yes always lower case on file names. Checked using notepad and made and saved a change ok. FP not open. Checked with task manager and it is closed. Was able to upload another file from my collection that was never edited in FP2006. Still could not upload the file edited by FP2006.
Will continue checking posts, as I have been doing, since this problem surfaced.
Now... :smack:

WeeWebber, I posted a full procedure for clean removal and new install of 1st Page 2006 yesterday. However, that does not seem to be the answer to what you are reporting.
There are some other posts that sound relevant to what you have run into. axel reports he found a solution to what happened to him. Check axel's post, if you have not seen it already, as his suggestion/approach may help you.
If you find something that works I please post it. These observations and results are important. These forums benefit from having experienced users like you as active members. :)
