I've been using first page for a little while now, originally on my sister's computer. Sometimes when i used it for a while an error would come up when i would shut down her computer, but i couldn't see the error b/c it shutdown so fast, this has only happened twice in a couple of months time. Now im using it on a rig i just built, i have no choice of using this program i've an online programming class, and a couple of times an error would come up saying that "1stpage.exe encountered a problem and needs to close." This would come up only if i used it for a couple of hours, tonight im trying to finish an assignment but now it won't even open fully without saying " 1stpage.exe encountered a problem and needs to close." Oh, about that error when i shutdown that has happened on my new rig. I hope somebody can help. I would appreciate any advice.

Well, as you need to finish a school project, I would suggest just using a different editor...

Theres nothing 1stpage can do that other editors can't.

As for the problem, I have no idea.

..."1stpage.exe encountered a problem and needs to close." This would come up only if i used it for a couple of hours..

I agree with MrSpandex, do not obsess over trying to get 1st Page to work--use something reliable to get the school work done. That said...

Anyone with an indication that 1st Page 2006 is using too much resources, the Resource Hog issue that Terminator mentions, can open the Task Manager (ctrl-alt-del with Windows XP), the process tab, and see if they notice anything peculiar. In particular, after 1st Page 2006 has been opened and closed a few times, are there multiple instances of the 1st Page "process" running? (There should not be any!) Perhaps the issue is more subtle. Notice the amount of memory used by the 1st page Process when it is first opened, also the % of the resources. After using 1st Page for a while, but before it crashes--so do not wait too long--has the memory use, number of processes, or % of resources increased?

When did you download 1st Page 2006 final? Did you get it on CNET's Download.com, the source linked to by Evrsoft? Did you have prior versions of 1st Page 2006 installed (even if removed) or have one of the pre-release or earlier Beta verions prior installed before the current installation? If so, there is a multi-step remove process for getting a clean remove before reinstalling the program. The installation (and reinstallation) process requires a lot of hand-holding. I view this as a bug in the program installer; net necessarily a bug in 1st Page 2006 itself.
