Hello, I have been using 2000 for years. I am pleased to see 2006 has php preview feature. This is great.
Since I am working on an existing website I started using 2006 to edit files by adding an img tag. When I save it and upload using WS_FTP Pro I can only see the main page contents without any sidebar includes etc. If I open the same file I just edited and saved only using 2000 and then save it again without changes, I can then uplaod it and the page displays properly with all includes visible.
Any ideas why 2006 is doing this. I have tried this several times and it will always bugger up the page (after uploading to site) but the same buggered up version resaved in 2000 without changes uploads and displays fine.
Thanks,
Lou

If I am not mistaken... this is still one of the outstanding bugs that needs to be fixed in FirstPage 2006. Not even sure if Admin is still working on it. The setup contained in the zip file which currently downloads from the evrsoft site has a date of February 2006. No update since then.

Just wondering if you have checked the actual filename and extension that is generated with 2006.
There is a default page extension, is it possible that it may be doing something evil?

A similar problem happens to me saving normal html pages and then viewing with Mozilla Firefox browser. The pages appear but there are mistakes on them. I checked the html code and it's differently formatted.
So, I saved the same page with First page 2000 and First Page 2006, and then I compared the two files with "Compare It!": the software said that the two files are identical, but have different CR/LF. This causes the problem and make it impossible for me to use the new 2006 software, which, by the way, is great.
Hope you can solve the bug.

I have not heard about regular HTML files and not being displayed correctly. This seems to be a serious issue with usability.

I've seen this happen too. Open a HTML file that has been created with FirstPage 2000 with FirstPage 2006, make a number of changes and save the file.
Now open the resulting HTML file saved from FirstPage 2006 in Notepad. The layout is totally messed up with CR/LF apparantly not being obeyed and your code appears to be one huge block rather than individual lines.
Because of this, I regretfully cannot use FirstPage 2006 and have gone back to FirstPage 2000. What a great shame that the latest version has so many quirks that make it unuseable.
Note that this does not always happen, but does so randomly... enough to frustrate you.

Any fixes on this yet? Since I haven't uninstalled the program and had occasion to use it again I gave it another shot. It saved the page edit correctly once and then messed it up on the next two edit saves. I did find however that by highlighting everything on the page before saving it would save without errors. I did this about half a dozen times.
An updated version would be nice.

Afraid not.... the zip I downloaded today from the Evrsoft site contains the setup exe dated 02/28/2006. This was the last version placed for download and the one in which I confirmed the bug existing in the saving of HTML files.
Sadly... it seems that bug fixing and development have ceased. I would suggest doing what the rest of us have done... search for a different program. I'm using HTML-Kit at present.
