Have you heard of those people who wait for popular domains to expire, and then take them? Usually, the owners of the domains renew it before they go into the market again, but in the rare chance they don't renew in time, there are usually hundreds of people waiting to grab it. I think that's horrible, I saw a recent situation where that happened, and it caused so many problems.

Squatters, yes, its there and registrars will register them if they expire also...easy way to combat its buy for 10 years...

Also seen domain registry of america try to take them....what I hate most is those that spam registry databases trying to get customers..

It's horrible, but there's no way to stop it. There are even tracking programs which show domains about to expire.

You may think I'm cold for saying it, but if they let it expire then it's not "stealing" per se. The registrars will usually send several reminders and finally park it for a week before they release it to the market to allow the owner to renew the domain plenty of opportunity to keep their domain. If they leave the site inaccessible for a whole week without noticing that the domain has expired then they deserve to have it regged imo.

I agree, its not stealing, they don't know its wanted anymore...plus they are given warnings, I give out three starting three months in advance:)
Also what I'm refering to is ppl calling my clients seeing they own a domain and say they have to renew it with them etc and once they sign the paper, wham it releases it to them...but I have registrar locks on all of them...so all my clients are protected, I'm the only one to release it.
