Is there an easy way to get rid of double spaces in 1st page 2000? I am having a problem as a lot of my files have double spaces in them, and it's taking forever to manually remove them.

I think the correct answer would be: No one will ever know or give you an actual answer on this.
I hear you asking why. Well let me tell you. this forum was down for six months, in that time there was no word from the one person entity called Evrsoft. The latest greatest version of FirstPage was released with bugs, and still has bugs. Most likely they will not be fixed. If they are I will eat my hat, and invite everyone to watch while I do it on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com)
I release this post may be harsh but you know what? So is life, get over it.

HTML Kit (http://www.chami.com/html-kit/) is a great little freebie.

Give it a try: hit the space bar twice in the "search for" box, and just once in the "replace with" box.
I've done this in other software, perhaps even in 1st Page 2000, but can't recall for sure. You have nothing to lose!
Good luck...

Replace double spaces by single and perform this till no replacements have to be made anymore...

This does work in 2006 doing a normal Search/Replace
Search for: two spaces
Replace with: one space
Use the space bar in the Search/Replace fields, you will see nothing there.
Click on Replace All and you are done.
-----------------------------------------------------
If you mean "blank lines" vs. "spaces"
Search for: \n\n
Replace with: \n
Put checkmark in the box for RegEx.
Click on Replace All
You may need to repeat the Replace All a number of times to remove all double lines.
