Design View removes end ?> tags

Hi all,

Just curious if anyone has run into this or knows a way around it...

When developing in PHP and using quick php output tags <?=$variable?>

When i switch to Design view and back for some reason the last angle bracket gets removed when i go back to source view leaving me with <?=$variable?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes, firstpage has several known bugs when working with PHP. I would say its not a great editor for working with such files. I have found phpDesigner to be quite nice.

I've heard phpDesigner isn't too good when working with pages with advanced combinations of html/javascript/php etc.

Any word on that?

Not sure what you mean. PHP files can contain html and its parsed out by server and does not do anything to the code afaik. You pose an interesting question there gwilo. I used it a while back but since it went commercial I have not.

I would try the demo out and see what happens.

As far as the <?=?> bug, any idea of a good place to post this where it may get a bug fix released or consideration in a future release?

I'm new to the site and haven't had much of a chance to explore, and the bug forum seems a little unorganized

I moved the thread to bugs section. I suggest you delete the newly created one to avoid the double post....as for unorganized...all I can say is PM or email Admin who is currently MIA for the month and last month but that is nothing unusual around here.

Since the bug is going on almost a year old, I can only hope one day sometime it will be fixed.

I actually just used <?php echo tag_links($this->tags()); ?> from the Tagger documentation and it works. Now I just need to figure out how to make each tag appear on a separate line, rather than separated by a comma or a dash on the same line and remove the “.” from the last tag.
