View Full Version : Is it just my imagination . . .

Is it just my imagination or is the server response time on the forums going up? It takes a longer time to load pages now than when I joined, I'm sure.
Also, it seems to me that the rate of posting is going down as well (although I'm trying to keep my end up :D )
Now I have to speculate about the causes of the drop in postings:
David Bindle got lucky on his birthday and hasn't caught his breath yet http://206.47.27.187/phpBB2/images/smiles/dance.gif
BoR|S has been asked to serve as Sharon's Internet advisor
Ghandi is still sulking about his free web space
EnwTheGood has been trying to come up with a more cryptic screen name
-TheDarkEye- is out smoking his avatar :smoke2:
DieNasty is trying to get the poo off his stick (ya gotta read his last post to understand)
HZR is bundled up with some gorgeous Swedish blonde trying to stay warm until spring comes :2love: (Drak is doing the same thing - waddya think caused the Alaskan earthquake?)
Polliwog now knows so much she doesn't have to ask questions any more :jumpy:
Zero scorched his keyboard on his last post :bangbang:
Anyone feel left out, I could go on . . .
Nothing like a little sh|t-disturbing to get the natives riled up. (hmmmm - I wonder if that is what BoR|S calls his kaka?)

Not too boring, yawn, what was that again?
I was having a slow day. No posts from anyone. Thought I'd spice things up a bit. Thought the high posters were fair targets. Finding out all sorts of things 'bout people.
Everybody is so EARNEST most of the time. We gotta loosen up from time to time - don't wanna all sound like NERDS.

EARNEST??? What the hell. Had to look that up on dictionary.com. Marked by or showing deep sincerity or seriousness Hmmm. I guess I could have figured that out by the context. Poo.
Atleast now I am gifted with knowledge! Hey.... okay, story EnwTheGood. I.... sorta, liked it. :)

BoR|S
In order to not disturb the censors, I sustituted '|' for 'i' in the word sh i t - a good Anglo-Saxon word meaning feces, poop, kaka. excrement . . . you get the picture. (It is also the word heard most often on cockpit voice recordings of fatal crashes)
Sh|t-disturbing is an expression generally meaning "to cause trouble" or "to stir things up" I was inspired by your use of BoR|S and was wondering if, in the semantics of logic - sh i t:Boris::sh|t:BoR|S??
And regarding your prime minister - now that is somebody who is in a lot of kaka! Tough times, my friend, it must make people almost crazy living there. Such deep hatreds and distrust - impossible demands and expectations - we are so insulated from the daily realities over here. Despite September 11, most North Americans don't wonder if they will get blown up whenever they get on a bus.

Oh... okey...
In fact, the origin to my nick is that 'Boris' was in use once on UnderNet so I put the '|' instead of the 'i' and capitalized the surrounding letters to make it look better...
And about my prime minister, it seems like he'll be the next prime minister too, we've got elections at the end of January...

DC,
I totally agree with you on what most North Americans think...
we are so far removed from the everyday turmoil that the
Isrealis go through...dispite Sept. 11, as you had mentioned.
Gino says that he thinks the Americans are so passive (as a
people, not a government) that it will take another HUGE
catastrophe to really stir them (us) up and cause major changes
in laws and security. I have to agree. We've caught drunken pilots, terrorist cells, and people carrying bombs in their shoes.
What about the crazies we haven't caught? It's all too scary.
As far as Sharon, I am totally in agreement with his policy of
not tolerating being pushed around be the Islamic community.
They have no right to constantly bad-mouth and teach hatred of the Jewish race. And slaughtering them simply because they are
Jewish (or AMerican) is a horrifying thought. They remind me of
"baby Hitlers"....with the Americans tossed in as a bonus!
I back up Sharon in his policy of no tolerance. We Americans are
defending our rights and out lands, I think if the Islamics intend
them harm, they have every right to blow up the bad guys.
Bush best be very careful in his advice to Sharon. I believe you
must practice what you preach....oh, and I did not say these
things because I think you are in disagreement, or to stir up Sh*t,
but only to voice my beliefs. And I'm not Jewish either. ;)

I just want to summurize it by saying that I disagree with what Sharon is doing, and I didn't want him to be a prime minister.
Anyway, we've had another terror act few hours ago nearby Hebron, and up to now, 12 were killed.

I just heard about the horrible attack too Boris. And you have
every right to disagree, he's your leader. Perhaps we Americans
don't "hear" the whole story, and you being closer to the
situation can give you an "inside" that others in the world
cannot really see as clearly. Whatever your reasons, I still
stand behind my beliefs that a man has a right to arm himself,
its' in our constitution. God bless you Boris, and I hope that
none of the people harmed were your own,

I spent a summer in Alaska ~20 years ago. Wonderful, wonderful place - both scenery and people. Kayaking in Prince William Sound, mountain and glacier climbing in Talkeetnas and Chugach.
Is Simon & Seafort's Saloon & Grill still in business? It was my favorite hangout. New York cheesecake flown in daily, Mmmmmm . . .
(Oh, and I forgot, all those single malt whiskeys!)

You keep complaining about server caching - what you don't realize is that you live so far out that they load your pages, bit by bit, onto a mule train and then drive them for two days back to civilization before your pages can be updated.
Try DSL (Dog Sleds, Limited) its much faster, especially in winter. I'm a Canadian, so I should know. We have special computers up here that come with heaters on the CPU to get them up to operating temperature. Before I got one of those, my system "froze" all the time.

The elected officials of this country (US) do so many things that anger me. We elect them to "govern" the country and all they do is maneuvering to further their own political position and that of their party. I get sick to my stomach when Gore, Daschel, Gebhart and the other Dumocrats open their mouth. Gore was not elected by our political process, Daschel was ousted because his party could not come up with a platform for their candidates, et al.
When are we going to quit lining the pockets of the dictators of these 3rd World countries under the guise of foreign aid. Whenever we start trading food for oil, we will get the attention of the desert bandits. We can grow food, they can't; they can pump oil, we can't. They want cheap food and we continue to buy their expensive oil.
We also have to stop letting in every illegal degenerate from these countries. If you apply legally for immigration,we welcome you, but don't sneak into my country and expect me to support you.

I would STRONGLY suggest we keep politics, foreign policy, and similar issues out of these forums. We have already seen how touchy some folks can be. It is not worth it.
For example, I take grave exception to some of the current directions of US foreign policy. (part of being an "undesirable from Nova Scotia (Canada)") (No worries JH - I know the spirit in which that was intended :p) But, fo' sho' I'm not gonna discuss it here!
Also, don't confuse liberal and conservative with libertarian and authoritarian. They are different constructs. You may find this Political Compass (http://www.politicalcompass.org/) website interesting.
If I say anymore I will be doing what I'm asking people not to do. So I'll stop. Immediately. Without saying anything else. Period.
