Boy i wish all forums were like this with at least 30 replies per topic. But anyway I was wondering could anyone give me some REAL design hints for a freelance Java(tm) website? BTW Im not going to include any Applets in my site without first being warned. In YOUR opionion what are the best page colors to use (background link text and link colors). For my tutorials the default colors are only acceptable. The rest of the the site i need some design hints. Any reasonable response is acceptable.

What's the theme and audience of your website?

That would definitely help in determining which colors to use.

What is a good color scheme - one that works!

If you want to explore color schemes using palettes of complementary colors, look at ColorSchemer (http://www.colorschemer.com/online/) This little interface will allow you to find colors that go well together (unless you want to look like the Wired website ;) ) When I use it, I find the color scheme that I like and then take a screenshot an save it in my project directory. I also copy the text of all the hex color codes.
