In your zip utility is there an option called Verify or something like that? Run it on the zip - if it says there is something wrong with it you will have to download it a gain. sometimes downloads get corrupted or the tail end of the file is lost. Either way, you will have to d/l again.

If the verify is OK, then something else may be going on.

I am getting the same Winzip error.
"Cannot open file. It does not appear to be valid archive"
At first we thought it was only on W2K Pc's, because we have a couple of people, on XP SP2, that CAN open the winzip files! So we know the files are Good.

I'm trying to comb throught the PC to see what settings are different.
Anyone resolve this yet?

If you look at the date of the last post before yours, you will see that this is an old topic. As far as I know, there has never been any problem with the download.

Which file are you having trouble with, 1st Page 2000 or 2006?

Are you using the same unzip program on the 2000 machines as you are in XP
? You have tried downloading it again also?

I am just having this issue "downloading" or opening zip files from a web app
(UGS Teamcenter) I thought someone might have recorded a fix for this Winzip issue, since we knowthe file is ok

we are using winzip 9.0 Sr1 on all the PC's.

Why not open the zip file into a folder on a machine that can open it, transfer the folder to the machines that cannot open it, and install from the folder?

various users need to be open the zip files at any time to view any of the zipped files. There is not an install in ths case, the archive contains .doc; .xls; .dwg, etc. .. thanks anyway

So I take it you mean any zip file and not necessarily this program called Firstpage 2006? I would ask the makers of winzip. My guess the place where you are downloading zip files are corrupting them some how.
