Hi all

I just started my long journey to build my website and my weapons are FP2006 and a book "How to do Everything with HTML"......
I am currently working on my layout...I have a design in mind...Header on top, Navigation bar right below and 3colums....that is all I want right now...

I tired with table...and it does not seem to work.....
What do you recommend? Table, Frame,or CSS?
I am very very new to HTML and CSS...Oh..speaking of these two monsters...
Are they totally different languages?
Do I have to know both?
Is it possible to build website only with CSS?

Please help me

I would recommend avoiding frames, only using tables for tabular data and HTML/CSS for everything else.

Yes, HTML and CSS are different languages.

You should know both, it's recommended.

It is not possible to build a website with just CSS, because it is not a markup language. It is made to provide style information for HTML.

Think of HTML as the building blocks like lego's (toy building blocks), and CSS as the colors and shapes and style of them.

Okay maybe a bad analogy, but you get the picture. You need both like PD85 stated.

Avoid frames at all cost, you will thank me later :)

Its actually harder to do frames for a large site when you get going. Things tend to mess up more and more. Not to mention your visitors pain they will have. When you design a site you are not designing what you want, you are creating a site your visitors want. Okay so you can do both a site you want and they want but keep in mind you are building something that attracts people.

Sounds like you have a layout you are liking. I would recommend a few other books but really just search the web and create good code.

Wow, thank you so much guys for info.
I have a clear picture of HTML and CSS and also learned that frame is not so good for layout.....thank you so much again....Now I will have to go back to table or hire a designer.....a webdesign company in my ares quoted me $800.00 that include design and 1year maintenance....HTML and CSS seems to be never ending story....

Bye bye web desighner....I can not wait to publish my website and show it to you guys...thank you...

Why give you a ring? Use the forum to answer posts.

Even your own site should be redone without tables, with a decent title, and some spell checking and validating.

Make sure you know how to create websites yourself before you start trying to suck money out of other people for a hack product.
