May as well start it off, the question I have is basically if anyone knows of places with tutorials on how to make images like logos and the like, because while I can code webpages my graphical skill is sub par at best. While you go around and see all these nice logos and graphics everywhere, so any useful places to learn basically? :p

If you want a logo, I suggest going into any webdesign forum (such as this one), and simply ask. Many people enjoy doing that, and will present you with one for free.

I could do that, but there is no way I would be able to ever learn how to do it myself, if I keep asking others to make one for me.

I use Paint Shop Pro v6 for all my custom graphics imagery. Additionally, it includes an animation tool that will allow you to make animated graphics. If you go to the site I've been working on (some of you know this site already) http://www bftcog.org , the banner graphic was made by me from scratch (I know, I need to work on it to keep the resolution skewing from happening, but I'm still in a learning curve too ;) ), and the animated ones on the footer started out as a single image (check out the one for 1st page - it looks like it's pulsating). A marvelous tool, comparable to Photoshop with one third the cost and it doesn't go out of style. Check out their website http://www.jasc.com for more info and tutorials. They have free downloadable versions for you to start learning on. Good luck.
yea now it's psp7.. and if you turn the sysclock back before you run it (every time after your demo ran out, you can just turn it back after) you can use it at infintum! (demo(really a full)version)

Many cool graphics can be made using some of the preset backgrounds and text effects built into the programs. I use a program called Arcsoft photosuite for buttons since it comes with a button maker. Stuff like that can also be used to make regular banners and graphics. I'm PSP 7 has something like this to make graphic designing easy.

One of the best places to learn alot of techniques on making great images is Eye-ball design.
I learned everything by starting there.
