Why are some files saved as .htm and others as .html? I save them in the same way.
I use the same "basic html document" template each time.
Also, I just uploaded a page and when I try to access it, I get the "you don't have permission to access this page" message. I went to "properties" and tried to grant permission for groups and others but smartftp wouldn't allow it.
Thank you. LE

I had a good post for you, but tried posting a few times and got tired of trying. Yet another reason this forum is down all the time

The htm/html problem is solved. Don't know how I did it but I just copied and pasted the page to another blank page and saved it.
I emailed my isp about the permission thing. Think there was something in the past similar and they fixed it. Ftp program wouldn't let me change permissions.
Thank you for replying.

sorry, this board frustrates me when I post, not sure if this post will even make it :)...there is little difference between the two..ones older and used back in days of dos (htm) and other is not. Really up to you. A google search will reveal opinions on it.

I have had quite a few problems with the forum here as well but have found that if I refresh the page often enough it usually finally loads to completion and allows me all options.
Sometimes it appears to lock and repeated refreshes are required then as well.

I prefer the .htm only because it's shorter, I think no one is better than the other ..
