I am going to try some SSI's on one of my pages and I'm not sure how to set up 1st Page 2000 to as a work environment. I have done a couple of SSI's in the past, but just built each SSI and html file separately and uploaded them to a live host site to test them.
Now I want to try something more detailed and don't know how to set things up. I know that I can install something called IIS which will act like a server for XP and let me see the html files with SSI's locally, but is there a way to load an html file in 1st Page 2000 and see the SSI's in the wysiwyg screen?
Hope this makes sense.
many thanks, BDT

Also, please let me know if there might be a better forum in which to ask this question.

nope you need to have server parse the SSI of which you need IIS, Apache or another to view. The editor cannot translate this I'm afraid.
I would stay away from IIS and simply download something like appserv to get you into a better testing environment, its small and just keep in mind that you are opening up the 80 and 8080 ports on your machine if you have the server configured to start at time you run your machine.

OK, I'll look at appserv, too. One question - once I install appserv or IIS will 1st Page 2000 then show the includes in the wysiwyg screen when editing an html page with includes?

nope you have to place in localhost folder which is basically a live server end...FP's real time preview cannot parse inside the program.
