Spam and lack of commitment

I have trying to remove all the spam and it is getting over whelming at times. Admin has not been here on the boards since June, also the other admin, DCElliot decided it was not worth it anymore.

The boards here have a lack of leadership and have gone downhill in the past few months, actually more than that. I've done what I can and will try to continue to remove the offensive posts as they happen but I do not guarantee anything.

Please do not complain to me about problems with the software, I did not code it, I do not work for Evrsoft, I am not affiliated with the software in way, shape, or form.

Hi. I'm sorry to hear that you all feel that way. I've used fp 2000 a couple of years ago and loved it. I loaded fp 2006 a few weeks ago on my xp machine and a friend's xp pc who wants me to do a web site for her company. fp crashed on both machines. I had to uninstall it. Then I got OneCare.

I just downloaded the 2006 free version today and had the trojan tsumi listed by Microsoft's OneCare two times.

I came to this site to see what is going on, it doesn't sound good. I'm just starting back into web design and I'm wondering if this might be the best product to use. I'm just below the intermediate stage, but not beginner. My friend suggested NetObjects 10.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. TX in advance.

actually that's too bad. I just came across this site and it seems like it could have good info.

irony is... this forum runs vbulletin which is GREAT, imo. and it would be relatively EASY to moderate IF someone just spent sometime to upgrade the forums to most recent version and add a few simple mods that help drastically with spam. this version is almost 8 updates behind. ugh. There are many setting tweeks as well one could use here to that end. the upgrade alone would probalbly only take a few minutes!! add-ons not much more.

I use vbulletin too and highly customized (for reference: my site is a unreal tournament clan site and Ut community: www.unrealaddicts.com). note I built that site on the EXACT same system this one is using and have NO spam problems. This board has almost NO customizaations that I can see...which actually makes it EVEN EASIER as there are no worries to update plugins as well.

so I really don't get why they are just dropping ignoring given how relatively easy it would be with tons of potential given the readership. such a waste.

the problem is with admin who is and has a history of being MIA all the time, yes its easy to moderate but gets old

Just dropped by to say hello. I'm afraid I can't do anything regarding the spam, board mods, or anything that would help alleviate the spamming. I also can't elevate anyone else to full admin status - only the board owner can do that and, well, that particular story has been told and told.

There is an ImageMagik image to block bot signups now, but I doubt that will stem the tide.

That certainly helps. As of this writing the board has 597 guests trying to sign up and not succeeding. Let us hope the spam flow lessens.

If only captchas were more infallible, unfortunately most tend to be easily crached as soon as they obtain the font file you used. (distortion helps, but is not the be-all-end-all)

Well at least it helps some instead of a huge inflow without any restriction.

Also I think the time admin was here he changed all your helpful work DCE and thus messed some things up. I don't think Admin has a good grasp on VB

You might also check out Bluementals Software's WeBuilder 2007, or HTML-Kit or PSPad.

I just purchased FP6000 a week ago and needless to say am very dissapointed at what I have stumbled into. I would like to say thank you for your time in keeping this forum together and let you know that in fact there are probably many of us who really are grateful. Can someone tell me what the story is? How did all this fall apart? Is Evrsoft going down the tubes?

I would like to go into the details more but there is so much history of admin so to speak in not answering any details or posting. Many have speculated and some come and go. This forum was here to help others learn a thing or two and grow into what they need to get their job done. However since the new version came out, there has been so many reported bugs and how knows what admin is doing to correct them. There is no communication and more going on that I'm not sure. In fact I used to come here often like so many others and this site was a hopping community, but now its just full of spam and ads a like for self promotion. I still have hopes for this community but seems to me it is just due to the fact that we don't have any news from site owners. Sorry to say you had issues with the software, you can always get a refund from 2co which handles the payment for evrsoft. Is evrsoft going down the tubes. ...where they ever a great company, who knows really except for admin I guess. There is some history stuff on the readme area that may help and with a little searching you can find info about forum history etc.
