What is the best way to learn simple flash for use in navigation bars etc.
I downloaded MX, but seeing as I am only trying to learn it not use it, I cannot see myself forking out the money for a full non-expiring version.

It kinda works like this:
Get in a good happy mood.
Crack your neck.
Get comfortable in front of your computer.
Make sure there are no hard objects near you. (for spur of the moment "I"M GONNA KILL IT" moments).
Then you start clicking and clicking and clicking and asking and asking and wondering and asking and clicking until.......... you blow a fuse because it took you an hour to make a stupid car go across the screen for 3 measly seconds.
Then you walk away.
Then you come back the next day and realize it's pretty cool after all and then you're hooked.
It's a love/hate thing.
Isn't this a twisted world?

I learned flash through spending 1000's of hours playing with the software. My method is to pick a project like a menu or nav bar and then go to Flashkit.com (http://www.Flashkit.com) and do a search in the free movies area for "menu" or "NavBar". Find an example that is similar to your project idea. Download the .FLA file and open it in Flash. Pick the sample file apart change it play with it break it fix it and learn how it works through example.
Flashkit is a good place but as anyone else it gets a bit anoying to view the site since you have to click about 3 to 4 times just to get something. And thus a just cause problem of "A WASTE OF Frickin time" Read this virtual discussion that I started a while back to help understand Flash. The link i suggest deminishes the ideas of wasting time. Although the website probably lacks some good insight but it is a great place to start and as a good person of learning machine you are I also think you have the knowledge to fill in the blanks.

Good luck I look forward to see what you have come up with. Via presentation or application or just basic buttons.
