Such a newbie... Backgrounds?

I'm very new at this HTML formatting and am having problems setting up a background pic... Can anyone help me? I feel so dumb asking but I really needed to. As I said I'm Such a newbie...:rolleyes: Sorry!

Another suggestion is to use a non-eye-catching background, because usually you want your visitors to focus on the content and not on the background...

I think it is good programming practice to also set a background color as close as possible to the overall color of your background. This will insure that everyone will be able to see the text on your site even if they have turned off images in their browser.

Consider this scenario: Your background image is a very dark color and you are using white text on this background. Someone who accesses your site has images turned off and they are using the "default" color scheme of black text on a white background. Your site calls for white text but your image is turned off.

Result: Your white text on their white background...
