Nothing will convince me that this isn't a trojan!

The file C:\Program Files\Evrsoft/1st Page 2000\|Scripts\Buttons\Six buttons from hell.izs is infected with the Js.Trojan.WindowBomb virus.
This file was quarantined.


I think that is very clear! It doesn't show up right at first when running the program. It sits and waits then shows up. I have the program running for months on my pc before Norton's found it - and YES I update my anti-virus program regularly. I installed 1st Page 2000 on my new laptop and within an month Norton's found the above trojan.

I have read the posts stating just to remove the file and all is well. Can you honestly TRUST Evrsoft? Maybe there's another dormant file waiting quietly to ruin what's left of your computer.

I had previously raved about this program. I will now tell people to stay away.

JS.Trojan.WindowBomb is a Trojan that opens a very large number of Web browser windows. In some cases, the mouse stops working and the time on the system clock keeps changing.

Reminds me of the [*EthenicName] email Virus...

It is contained in an email your receive.

1. Follow these instructions to the letter.
2. Type at a DOS or Command prompt "Format C:"
3. Repeat as necessary

* substitute an ethenic / college team name /city name of your choice cuch as "Texas Aggie email Virus"

i have caught the same virus when installing 1st page, and seen the same info at the norton site. what this virus does on my pc is post a small window (about the size of the restart/shutdown box) with a message that says something like "Server is busy with another program..." and there are three buttons, marked "Switch to" "Retry" and "Cancel" the cancel button is inactive, and the box can be closed by pressing ctrl+alt+del. a few months ago, for about two days, the virus (from a previous installation) did begin to interfere with my system clock, and my mouse did stop moving, but it appeared more like the whole system froze rather than some components. i reinstalled os and all other programs, then found the virus upon reinstallation! i know how to deal with it, so thats not a problem. it usually runs on startup. if you want a copy of the 1st page program i have, email me.

1- why does internet explorer only give me this message at startup?
2- what makes you think i didnt format my hdd? i got six buttons a second time from a different copy of the software.
3- why doesnt evrsoft just remove six buttons, instead of trying to manage everyones complaints? six buttons definitley interfered with the operation of my pc.

you havent explained why the warning opened infinite browser windows, or interfered with the system clock, both traits of the virus fp doesnt have

The nEvrSoft team doesnt seem to be doing any more work on 1st Page. We havent recieved any updates for months.

Not only that, but even though the file in question can be easily removed from the installer, that would mean that you'd have to update it with every site that hosts 1st Page (probably a few thousand).

Do you think removing one file is worth all of that trouble? I dont.

Six buttons is no more a Trojan than executing the command to format your hard drive. Both require that someone initiate commands from the keyboard. Don't try to argue your point that Norton or McAfee believes it to be a Trojan. This simply does not make it so.

This forum has a general announcement concerning this subject. Those who have questions should read this announcement.

I recommend we close this thread as it serves no purpose.

It was not the warning window (with the Switch to, Resume, Cancel buttons) that infinitely open the browser windows... it was the infinitely opening browser windows that made the browser crash and display that warning dialog window to you.-dbindel

six buttons does no such thing! i am arguing my point based on behavior i have witnessed personally, as it occured, on my own system.

the point here is that i have obviously had some kind of prank or attempted malicious attack executed on my pc. it has happened repeatedly, and repeatedly all attempts to track down suspect file leads to six buttons.

your repeated attempts to deny the reports of all these fp users and to close their threads really only shows that you are here to act as a buffer for someone elses poor decision. so good luck, i hope nobody gives you too hard of a time, and maybe next time around you wont be the whippng boys.

i havent used fp for weeks (thanks to macromedia studio mx), and i hope the juvenile mind who thinks the internet is a good way to interfere with people from a distance rethinks his life before he wastes it.
