A Quick and Effective Review

By Beth Sunny
Posted Friday, December 3, 2004

Here is how to have a quick review so that you can start the day's class with everyone awake and in tune...

Before leaving a session of a multi-day class, stand at a white board or flip chart and ask the students what they learned that day. Jot quick notes on the board about each topic they shout out to you. (This will help to jog their memories and will help your eval scores go up!) Then leave the writing on the board. This will be the best review tool in the morning.

Before you start the next day's lecture, go over the board again - this time with an eraser. Ask the students an easy quiz question about each topic. For example, "How can I add a row to an existing table?" When someone answers it correctly, erase the topic. If you are working on a flip chart, cross off the topic on the chart. This will give you a quick review so that you can start the day's class with everyone awake and in tune, and (as mentioned before) it will help improve your eval scores.
