Tips for finding the right work at home job
Getting started working at home can be a real challenge, but there are certain steps you can take to make the transition easier. The following is a list of things that I have found to be essential when searching for and starting up a new work at home business.
1. Decide what kind of work at home job you would like. Think about what you like to do and how much money you would like to bring in. Are you crafty? Do you enjoy working with people? Do you enjoy working online? Do you have any sales experience? Can you afford to spend money to get your business going, or do you need a free opportunity? Ask your self all these questions and then start to decide on kind of job you would like. Type “work at home” into your favorite search engine and check out the sites that come up. See if anything catches your interest.
2. Once you have narrowed your work at home choices down, start to gather information on each of your choices. Find out what it takes to set up and run each of your choices. Talk with people who are doing the things you are interested in. If you are thinking about working for a company make sure they are registered with the better business bureau. Also, be wary of WAH jobs that want you to pay to work for them. Remember that they should be paying you, not the other way around! Once you have gathered all the info you can find, make your decision on what you would like to do.
3. So you’ve decided on a work at home job or business, but what’s next? Read up on your company and their training material, or if you are starting your own online business think about getting your own website and domain name. Think about what products you want to offer and how you are going to market them. Join a few work at home email lists and learn what everyone is doing to market their businesses. Go to the library and read up on marketing or just run a search online for articles. Let your friends and family know about your new business, they could be your first customers!
4. Set Your Business goals. Think about where you would like your income to be in one month, six months, one year, and three years. If you are currently working outside of the home, figure out how much income you would need to make from your WAH job to be able to quit your old job. Write your goals down on paper (or print them out) and post them somewhere you will see them often. Make a game plan to help you reach your short term and long term goals.
5. Decide how much time you plan to spend working each day and stick to your plan as much as possible. Don’t stress if you didn’t get something done that you planned to do, remember there is always tomorrow!
6. Sometimes you will get discouraged, and think your business might never take off, but remember it takes time (and sometimes money) to get things going. Keep working and you will see results even if it takes awhile!
Working at home is very rewarding. I love what I do and feel a great sense of accomplishment with every goal I meet! You get to be at home with your family and earn money at the same time, what could be better than that?
