Search Engine Follies

Keyword Density Analyzer at JimTools
I have been looking at the JimTools website and particularly the Keyword Density Analyzer. The site used to be maintained by Jim Wilson, who sadly died last year and now the site is been run by John Cokos.

I've been using this tool off and on for a few years now and have always found it useful especially when looking at the competition - you can look at a competitors site and see at a glance what keywords they are using.

In recent times the site seems to have outsourced many of the tools and this one is provider by Rands.nl.

In use the tool gives detailed advice about meta tags, alt tags and the number of stop words. The most useful thing I find is that it will give the total number of keywords and the density of each word, particularly useful when your optimizing a page for a certain keyword or phrase.

The other new thing I've noticed about the site is when the results pages is returned you get a row of buttons along the top with many more useful tools. Every thing from checking link popularity for the major search engines to a lookup on the Wayback Machine. Being able to do these different types of analysis on the same page all in one place is very useful indeed.
